Not exactly sure.
Well, Hell's Bells!
We've been babying our Malibu along, hoping to get back to when cars were available and priced accordingly. Didn't happen. Took Mo to the shop yesterday and they called this morning with the bad news. Timing belt is about to go. We can crutch her around town, but any road trips are out, especially in the cold. They said $1800+ to fix. She's 11 years old with 150K on her; she's just not worth sinking that much money into. So we're going to have to pony up to replace her. :(

Going to go look at a couple of vehicles after my PT this afternoon. Should be fun in 16 degrees, using a walker & wearing a boot...

@SaraV , are you the one who recently bought an Equinox?
We bought one 3 years ago. Avoid the 2.4 engine and you should be fine. Honestly it might be worth 2k to repair your Malibu.

Not with 150K miles, and rust spots starting. We live on gravel; it takes its toll with multiple mini-chips along the rocker panels and wheel wells.

Our 1992 GMC Sierra is in the shop today, at least I hope it is. Wouldn't start after a grocery run last time. Battery wasn't dead, but just wouldn't start. If only we'd have started looking for a "new" truck oh, say, three years ago when I think I maybe first mentioned it...

Agree that Gonzaga should be playing in stronger conference, but you have to have a football team to join a P5 conference.

Why?

UConn is independent in football and in the Big East for other sports.

No reason you couldn't just add the Zags' MBB and WBB to a major conference.

We weren't ready three years ago!
We've been ready for about a year, and have been hoping supply would improve and control price a little better.

This is the second time that supply chain has bit us severely in the wallet...this, and then the addition to our home. Which, by the way, STILL isn't finished, and probably won't be until sometime in April.

Because football drives the $$$ no matter how good your BB is (except for KU, but they're stupid like that). At any rate, isn't this a discussion for the basketball forum, or do you think you'll get annihilated there? ;)

My 05 Malibu was a damn good car. It was the basic model, my parents bought it new, then gave it to me in 2013. Drove it for about 7 years, ended up with 179K miles. Sold it, well my dad sold it because it was in his name, for $750. Had a fuel leak somewhere, but it ran fine. Probably could have got another 10-15k out of it, but I didn't want to keep putting money into it.

It's still going. How I know is another story.

I was at the dealership yesterday, they had most likely less than 20 new vehicles on the lot.

Loved my 2001 Lumina. We put 200K miles on it but parts were beginning to wear out and maintenance wasn't worth the price of the car. We replaced it with a 2011 Malibu, but never really liked it as much. There's an Impala that we are going to look at today also, but we'll see. My biggest problem is the underside f the dash on the driver's side. I have to rack the seat forward to reach the pedals, but that means my knees are higher than Lew's when I'm driving. Low-slung dashboards, I tend to crack my knees a lot, which makes me cranky.

There's one dealership here that has full lots, almost overflowing. They have like 50 lots between southern WI and northern IL. Ford, GM, Chrysler, you name it. Then every other dealership is bare.

Nah, I love the basketball forum.

:)

It was truly a random/throwaway/not at all thought out thought so I thought it fit best in "random."

All the realignment stuff is really in the football forum, anyways, as you correctly pointed out that's the driving force behind everything there.

This phrase seems to come up a lot...

We're putting 3k into fixing the kids' 12 Jetta with 95K miles on it. 2 years ago, we wouldn't have done it but now the car is worth almost twice as much as it was 2 years ago.
