Dang I'm a good exhausted. Got the call to duty to follow student son into student lot to get them a bigger tailgate space. Got invited to frat party by some high kid who liked my cookies. Got goaded onto field from the nosebleed seats. Took forever to get out of said student lot. Drank two beers which is enough for me to need a nap.

Have a name? Husband recognizes him...well, recognizes the horn.

I recognize him as well, will have to see if hubby remembers a name (he won't).

Winning that game made trying to get to the volleyball game a complete mess. I guess it is a small price to pay, but that was ridiculous.

Damn that was fun! One takeaway from yesterday is that I don't think I will do alumni band again. Nothing against those that do it and still love it but when I spent the whole day wishing I was with my wife and kids tailgating, enjoying the day and catching up with old football friends I took it as a sign that is where I should be.

We also had one drum major that still felt that we needed to play between every play when most of us just enjoy watching the game which resulted in less than half the people paying attention to him and playing.

Did get to see one guy that is an alumni band board member that we kind of tolerate each other get in the face of a security guard. Long story short we were not allowed on the field level unless we were going to/from half time. Small issue is they seated us in the very front of the section we were in and to be nice 90% of the sousaphones just left their horns against the wall. So this guy went down with those that left them there with about 2 minutes left after the interception since it was obvious the field would be rushed and this security guard would not anyone other than him down there to hand up probably 20 sousas and prevent them from getting trampled.

If you are friends with me on FB check out the pictures MrsWx posted of LittleWx. He had an AWESOME day.

This time of year my guess would be geese. My obligatory response to incidents and posts like these on Twitter is "And the plane still flew!"

Really it is amazing what can fail and the beatings aircraft can take and still fly and keep you safe. Next time you are with an Aero E or @carvers4math son buy them a beer and ask them to tell you about destructive testing. It is fun!

A lot of them yes. That is another reason why I don't think I am a fit for alumni band. I want to enjoy the time with friends and watch football and not be around people discussing the chord structure of what we are playing and if the drill is right.

Did a little google and found the big ones DO migrate at night. Guess I hadn't ever really thought about it much but should have known considering the number of smaller birds that crash into buildings and towers in the night during migration.

BTW, agree with your comment on missing the experience some by being in the band and not with family. One of the reasons I bailed on going was I would have ended up scalping a ticket and sitting alone with strangers...just not the same thing.

So spent most of the weekend (except for the game) bagging leaves and giving the grass a final trim. Got the entire front yard and side yards done, filled 11 lawn bags. Seems like all the leaves came down at once.

Still euphoric over our scintillating win over the antlered toads from Texas. There are many hok fans at work, it will be interesting to see if they will give ISU their props......how could they not? (Oh yeah, they're hoks.)

And @carvers4math, I like your cookies too.

Year-end volleyball jamboree update from Saturday. The girls hadn't won a match all year and won all 3 matches on Saturday. The girls pretty much acted the same. This group is always happy. My daughter did say, "We're on fire." I responded with, "en fuego". She told me to stop trying to speak Spanish.

Teacher work day today, so no school. We have trick-or-treat on actual Halloween, not some Beggar's night. ;) Both night are going to be cold and windy--yuck.

How is it that I can remember the guy's name pictured with Boxster at the game watch (someone I haven't seen in 20 years and only knew through band), but can't remember things written on my grocery list? @SaraV if your hubby is still thinking, I can message his name to you. :) Pretty impressive that he can still fit in his band uniform, and his looks have not changed that much. We bought hubby's drum major uniform when they were selling them (got new uniforms for the navy/"swirly Cy" era of the late 90's/early 2000). He, however, would not be able to wear his uniform at the moment . . .

Lol I went to store yesterday just for milk, came home with apples, bananas, tea, bandages, and no milk. So then I made a kid go get milk cause that's how I roll.

Yup. When the weather is nice I can send one on her bike to Fareway to get what I need/have forgotten. I am actually pretty good with placing names/faces (or at least where I know them from). Hubby is horrible at that.

We live in the town where I was raised. When my brothers come home for things like class reunions, they try and take me to things like the Homecoming assembly or something to try and get me to help them identify their own high school classmates, as if I'm going to know lol. I'm usually good enough to know I should know who the person is but can't pull up the name to save my life. On the other hand, I remember every number ever, from ancient phone numbers, to all the kids' SS numbers, to even their college ID numbers. I'm clearly either an idiot savant or maybe just the first word of that.

He did claim that there may or may not have been a girdle involved.
