I want RV to choose the Cyclones because its right for him... Not Kaffey

"...Findlay Prep’s players lived in a five-bedroom home with a coach and attended classes at nearby Henderson International, a private grade school."

Grade school??? Sounds like the highest of academic standards.

Sounds like the bitter Minnesota media are trying to dig up a bit of dirt here, but I'm not sure much will come of it except the usual appearance of impropriety with nothing concrete.

There's no doubt that that there is always a bit of shadiness that goes around in college hoops recruiting. I don't think the s *hit surrounding Vaughn is any different from what happens with any other elite recruit.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Meh....
For Kaffey to say that Vaughn to LV and him were just a coincidence is a flat out lie.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If we for some reason don't end up landing Vaughn, I get the feeling more people are going to blame Kaffey than anything.

With UNLV at a 4-4 record and a player transferring out; you just wouldn't guess RV would go there. Stranger things have happened, so if Kaffey gets hired there, then it was never meant to be. It'll just show how shady UNLV is. Can't win with their "stellar" recruiting class that unlvzu or whatever his name was had talked about and players leaving. But, this stuff happens in college bball. We'll still be alright next season regardless.

The dreaded quasi agent. The leeches that attach themselves to these rising stars. These middle men do a lot for these kids and the kids then feel indebted. These handlers aren't in it for charity. They make an investment in these kids with the hope of a payday.

If Vaughn chooses to go to whomever offers his quasi agent the best offer then I think it will be between Kentucky, NC, KU, BU or UNLV. If Rashad makes the choice solely on his own then I think he will pick ISU. At this stage I would say the odds aren't in our favor.

This was my exact same thought. Seems they are getting ready to be cut from Vaughn's list this week and want to say well we didn't want him anyway since Kaffey is involved.

This probably means Vaughn has told little Pitino that he isn't playing at the UofM next year. I can't imagine a Gopher beat writer writing that if there was even a small chance he could wind up there. It's ******* in your own pool.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

the unlv fans that i have talked to have told me that they have gone from believing that kaffey is working against them to get a better landing spot for himself to steering rashad to unlv. the fact that kaffey wouldnt talk about what brought him out to findlay scares me a bit. i really want rashad to come to isu, but i think that we may not be in quite the lead we think we are, if anyone is truely leading...

If it is a decision based on what he likes and is best for him Iowa State is leading. If his decision is based on his coach getting a job at that school then Iowa State is not on his list.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I want to think that Vaughn is an independent thinker and has only agreed to extend his recruitment as "the payback to Kaffey" so that Kaffey has maximum amount of time to cultivate his own future. I still hoping that, come the Spring signing period, Vaughn will pick where he wants to go without regard to Kaffey's open options at that moment. I'm not criticizing Kaffey; I think he is doing what is best for himself without major damage to Vaughn's career but I cannot believe that Kaffey is not pursuing his own future as much or more than Vaughn's.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

This whole situation is rotten, but what can you do. The NCAA can barely find decent ref's to call games, let alone police all of the D1 b-ball recruits across the nation. It just is what it is at this point, and it's definitely shady.

I hope ISU doesn't cave in and let Kaffey have a cake job in the basketball offices or god forbid any coaching gig. What are we, Kansas?!?!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I give Fred and Matt A enough credit to not spend so much time chasing a recruit if the writing on the wall is as clear as that article makes it out to be.

This is sketchy but unfortunately it happens more often then it should. It happened earlier this year with Isaiah Whitehead. He's committed to Seton Hall and his "mentor" is headed there as a coach. I'm not exactly sure why the NCAA allows it to happen.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I am on board with those that don't want RV if it means a plus one. I hope Fred has enough pride (and think he does) to not have to take a plus one just to get a kid for a year. That may be the way some places do it, but I think he does a good enough job with X's and O's and relating to players that he can still get us to the promised land with a team he builds vs. having to bow down to a plus one situation.

I'm guessing this has less to do with Kaffey's future and more to do with something under the table.
