Re: Rashad Vaughn

Where did I ever say anything about Kaffey being hired by anybody? I understand what you are saying, but an under the table exchange doesn't require anyone being hired.

True, just makes it legal.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

We're not hiring Kaffey. It's time to hand the ol' mentoring reigns to someone who REALLY knows what he's doing.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Sign me up for Kaffery if that is what is needed to get Vaughn. KU has been doing this for years.

A worthless article full of bs, written with out of bitterness over RV not staying local. No wonder he left for his senior year.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Just hire Kaffey then fire him as soon as Vaughn leaves. It's not like we have to keep him after Vaughn is gone.

Either it's factual or it isn't. If factual, then where is your support for concluding it's out of bitterness? If not factual, you may have a point.

Wow, deep thoughts there.

Show you some facts it is not bitterness? First you need to show me some facts in that article that support any dirtiness and not just being a mentor.

It was a smear job reporting what some other reporter thought it "looked like" is not reporting its opinion and a backdoor way of doing it by reporting on another reporters opinion (Just find one that shares yours). Unlv and findlay all look very shady and if he goes there it would be shady but there really is no new info in that article.

I think he is leaning here If this art I cle changes your opunion you hadnt been paying close enough attention. This us why UNLV emerged as a major player. Just because they hired him though doesnt mean it was package deal it was likely clayton findlays attempt to buy vaughn For UNLV. But it doesnt mean he was bought because his coach took an open coaching job. If he steers to unlv for any reason beyond bennett then yes that would be shady. Bennett and unlv are looking less convincing as developers of NBA talent everyday though. Which is why Vaughn seems more pro ISU is my guess. No handler can out handle a mama that has fallen for his dreaminess. When you got that you dont need booster money.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Wait Kaffey needs to bring more than just Vaughn. Like the guy at Kansas State brought Beasly and the rest of that DC Assault team. That was worth the hire.

It doesn't. It could very well be a young man trying to do right and steer a younger man down a good path. It is possible.

realistically, I think a more plausible scenario is that this mentor was a 20 year old kid, had missed out on his hoop dreams, and decided to latch onto an obviously talented 8th grader. Him going out to Las Vegas, based on his mentors advice and connections, seems to support it. He didn't need the different stage, he had the offers, so why go out there? Separating a high school kid from his family seems unnecessary. You could argue that it was to get him away from some other bad influences, but why UNLV then? Maybe not technically UNLV, but that prep school is nothing more than a feeder institution. these, at least to me, support something more nefarious at play. And common with the big boys or not, there is a price to pay when you associate with that recruiting method.

I would love for Vaughn to come to ISU more than ever now. But if it involves a "mentor" coming on staff I think that it may not be worth it. He has a very good mentor, in all facets of life, waiting for him in Ames.

Regardless of the story, CFH knows the truth. He has met the man and judged the situation. He will make the right call under what is best for Rashard and Cyclones men's bb. And if we get him or not, the truth will find light. If his mentor goes on staff wherever Vaughn ends up, we know the sticker price.

(Horribly formatted by iPad.)

So if R.V. holds this guy in high regards, and reads this thread, I wonder how he will react to people ripping his adviser.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Reinforces my image of GM and his principles when he was at Iowa State. Harrison Barnes and his Son Doug were very close is my understanding and Greg to the best of my knowledge never used that relationship to put pressure on either of them. Was always disappointed in his coaching, but this situation with it's similarities keeps him above the muck of what recruiting has become.

Likely get ******, later on realizing the situation does look sketchy to an outsider and let it slide. We don't know the entire situation so blanks will be filled.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'd love to get Vaughn, I really would, but if we have to hire Kaffey to get him I'd rather land Cunningham/some sort of transfer instead. We will be pretty good next season with or without him anyways.

Why do u all care if we have to bring in Kaffey? Who cares it's one person and a potential addition to the staff, this happens all the time. Time to get with what the big boys are doing or get out of recruiting top 10 kids. What exactly is the issue?
