Re: Rashad Vaughn

I understand he is a great player, but do we really want a "one and done" signee? If so, fine. It would be nice to take one from the big boys, I get that also. But is it really beneficial to have him one year?

Absolutely!! Did you regret having Royce White on the team for a year? Not only would it make the year we have him quite special, it puts ISU on the map even more. If the #7 recruit in the nation commits to Iowa State, that opens up opportunities with other top recruits. I can see your point if our whole team were built on one-and-done players, but with the majority being 3-4 year guys there is no downside to sprinkling in some instant NBA talent.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's huge to get Rashad for future years. If he has a big year and is 1 an done, it shows recruits that you don't have to go to a blue blood to succeed.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I would love to have a program full of one and done's plus a few players that stick around for 2-3 years.

If your 3/5 starters are one and done's that means you are attracting NBA ready players to your college for one year. See Kentucky. I dont care that they lost in the NIT, I bet they will contend for another final 4 this year and every other year.

So yes, I want Vaughn I dont care if hes one and done, that one year could be very special.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If Vaughn decides he is one and done than he is one and done. It goes to show how far ISU basketball has come in the last ten years that we can get a national top ten guy. It would be a game changer for the future…just has long as FRED stays.

Which I think 5 years minimum is a reasonable expectation though I suspect longer.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Ok so This is what I know about the in home with Vaughn. It did not go well. Barring some changes in his recruitment to UNC we are definately out of the running. Our insiders are saying UNC is still an option. But don't hold your breathe. ISU is indeed presumed to be the favorite at this point. With KU gaining ground everyday. I hope you guys lock him up soon. Kinda sick of Bill Self lately.

Off teh subject Johnson is expected to pick between UVA and UNC. He is not expected to choose IU as was thought for a while.
