Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Look at the zag article again. I can't get around what is some hints IMO. RV is close with DM and they talk a lot, DM been trying to get him to UNLV but follows up with basically saying it's all good and RV will be great at any school..IMO meaning I couldn't convince him. That's the positive spin I put on it. Consider also that DM is a big time recruit and RV may not be "the man" at UNLV next year. At ISU he knows he is. His own star in the making with no other big recruits around him to take the limelight.

ISU will be a good team with good players. Vaughn isn't going to be head and shoulders above the rest, but has the opportunity to do virtually whatever he wants with excellent players around him to compliment. When you analyze all our players currently playing that return, We lack a do it all player similar to Clyburn. One that can shoot well, drive the lane and rebound. He would be the primary scoring threat to compliment Niang. Morris is a true pg, a guy that looks to pass first. SG currently are under performing but good roll players. Hogue is a great rebounder and defender but lacks consistency on offense and is better suited as a garbage pal guy. Niang is a great all around post/perimeter player that can take pressure off Vaughn but also doesn't hog the spotlight.
I know I am probably bias here but I think their is a very unique and exciting opportunity for Vaughn at ISU and hope he sees it too.

I totally agree. We have a solid nucleus of players that already have great team chemistry. I don't know why he would want to go to UNLV, who has 2 McDonald's All-Americans on their roster and other 4 Start talent, and they are still having a bad season (especially in the MWC). 146th in ppts per game, 125th in assists per game, and 208th in field goal percentage. My humble opinion is that Dave Rice can't use his talent well. He would have a great point guard in Morris and a "battle tested" crew around him in rest of the team. Why wouldn't you want to play for Fred!

This mamma jamma is on pace to hit 10k before the announcement, I think it already may be bigger than conference realignment megathread 1.0.

I heard a rumor that Vaughn is announcing on CF, and is waiting for the 10,000th post to make the announcement.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

The probability Vaughn goes to UNLV is 40% and for ISU it is 60%. If you bet on UNLV you get 25 dollars If you pick ISU you get 16 dollars.

Your expected gain if you pick UNLV = (0.6 * 0) + (0.4 * 25) = 10 dollars

your expected gain if you pick ISU = (0.6 * 15) + (0.4 * 0) = 9 dollars

so an educated guess says you pick ISU, but if you are a betting man, you might pick UNLV

If a player's trainer/manager knows this betting math this well; wouldn't it cause some concern? I'd be very careful betting on games this player was in.

Blasphemy! You, sir, are a blasphemer! One should not desecrate the memory of the megathread.

Long live the Megathread!

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Whether he picks the cyclones or not, the fact He has them in his finals is huge and speaks well to what Fred has been able to accomplish in a relatively short time. Great players are going to ISU. Iowa state won't ever be a one and done perennial choice, but like Fran and Musberger said, would you rather have a 1 and doner over a Niang? I think a 1 and doner has a chance to put ISU over the top on the national stage and that is a huge opportunity but I won't get too worked up if he doesn't choose the good guys either.

Who would you guys say our top target was last year? Thomas? And the year before that? Niang? Seems like Fred usually gets his guy.

Unless you count Washington who went to NC State, Finney who picked gators, grandstaff who picked OSU, and a few others

Fred, like any other coach has had his misses

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

How tall is Vaughn? Is he big enough to play some 3 for us? Or is he strictly a 2 guard?
He is 6'5" or 6'6" and because he is a mismatch, would be a do everything guard. I am not sure we have had a guard like him under Fred- maybe a more offensively minded and talented Babb.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I went from excited to hear the announcement to readying myself for disappointment in a day. I'm just gonna tell myself he's gone until I hear otherwise, that way it won't sting if something bad happens.
