Uconn clearly a backup plan for even numbers. im ok with that.

When you read that. It means there are 9 schools in the Pac.....and only 1-3 spots available in the B12. If the B1G is not interested in any of them, that means some of those schools might want to get in before its too late.

Put me in the “Arizona, Washington and Oregon, and if Washington and Oregon don’t want in, stop at Arizona” camp.

Yeah, I'm not sure why we'd take a G5 school just to get to 14. First, we only have a deal to keep the same amount of money per team for adding a Power 5. So the new team would need to come in at lower money. The Big 10 played with 11 schools for years, getting to an even number doesn't matter one bit.

Ideally, we'd get to 14 with Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. If any of those fall through, just stop and work on adding basketball schools for the next media deal. No rush--UConn will be waiting.

Arizona is likely next. Then it’s up to Oregon and Washington if they want to be 15 and 16. If one or both of them decline then they look at Utah and Arizona State. If for some reason only one of those join then that’s UCONN’s shot at being #16.

I really don't think we have to stretch far with CU/AZ now.

Would we really want to double up Utah's small population market when we can get into ACC markets soon?

There might be some advantage to having the same 16 as SEC and Big Ten.

If it's Oregon and Washington that get us to 16 you can make some arguments that the football quality is deeper than the Big Ten and basketball is going to be tops no matter who we add from here.

Duck anymore g5s wait it out Arizona is coming and if ASu doesnt so be they are idiots.

I doubt that ASU and Utah have commitable offers right now. They may be backup options if OuW decide to stick it out, but they’re #17 and #18 for a max of 16 spots. And I’m not sure they’re worth going to 16 if AZ takes the 14 spot and OuW decline. But I’m not sure what OuW’s options would be if AZ moves next. It’s basically Big12 or independent as legitimate options.

If Arizona is #14 the idea of needing yet another strong basketball program is less important.

This current conference over the past decade plus Arizona is ridiculous in hoops.

it is going to cost the pac 35 million to pry a school away from the MWC for the 2024 season correct? this seems to be the biggest hurdle for them. they dont have money to spend in order to secure a deal that makes less money than every other conference.

GK couldn't have fumbled this worse.

Put me in the “Arizona, Washington and Oregon, and if Washington and Oregon don’t want in, stop at Arizona” camp.
I said same back on page 996:

TLDR; I think the two most likely outcomes are:
1) Colorado and Arizona only
OR
2) Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, and #4

For the 4th team ASU is my guess. UW will wait for B1G. Utah is being a-holes, plus a 2nd team from Arizona (pop 7.5M) makes a lot more sense than a 2nd team from Utah (pop 3M)).
