Why do people prefer AZ to Asu so much?
Just basketball?

A big reason is that Arizona fans, alum, admin, boosters have seemed warm to Big 12 and ASU has thumbed their nose in comparison.

I don't view either football program as any huge get and Arizona helps us outpace the Big East as the only competition in basketball.

I'm also not convinced it's perfect ideal strategy to have 4 teams from Utah and Arizona when the ACC is about to break up.

They kill everthing. Sorry for them they finally wont run a conference.
I'm still very interested to see how it plays our for UT in the SEC. That school is so full of themselves, I just don't see how they end up being a team player. The good part is, they are going to be in a conference that doesn't have to bend over to their ********. And I'm trying to figure out which way plays out worse. If they continue their current streak of mediocre to **** seasons and start blaming the SEC for not being competitive or if they start winning a lot and think they are the top dog that can push their weight around.

Yeah, I'm not sure why we'd take a G5 school just to get to 14. First, we only have a deal to keep the same amount of money per team for adding a Power 5. So the new team would need to come in at lower money. The Big 10 played with 11 schools for years, getting to an even number doesn't matter one bit.

Ideally, we'd get to 14 with Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. If any of those fall through, just stop and work on adding basketball schools for the next media deal. No rush--UConn will be waiting.

The top adds after colorado and not looking forward to ACC falling apart:

Oregon - Brand! Young, Hip, Cool. Great football. Very good basketball. Worry the B1G may come calling, but I'm willing to take that chance. They can have full rights and sign our GOR, no special treatment. This would be a home run.

Washington - Brand & Market. Very good football. The huskies match up with what the B1G wants, I'm convinced they're headed there. I'd happily take them now, even if they may leave.

Arizona - Most likely to actually jump next. Brand is solid and bball is excellent. Grabs tuscon and much of the pheonix markets.

Utah - Football brand and passion. We've learned to hate them this year, but I think they'll do well as a villian. I enjoy the passion. Its what the conference needs. Football is where its at. Doubling down on Utah and Salt Lake market is the only reason I'd pass.

Arizona St - Much better football than Arizona, but not in the league of Oregon/Utah. Still a solid add, would complete grabbing the Phenoix market. Like taking Utah, we don't need them if we have the Wildcats, but still a solid add.

Back up plan for even numbers: Uconn for the NYC presents and of course all the Bball Championships. Football sucks, but not a horrible add overall. National Conference!

Yeah, win or lose, Texas is a cancer. They WILL cause problems in the SEC - rubbing Bama, Georgia, and OF COURSE A&M the wrong way.

Good riddance!
