B10 needs schools close to USC and UCLA so that makes Cal and Stanford more valuable in the B10 than they are in the P12.
It’s more than that. The big 10 presidents are interested in spending some of their raise to get Berkeley as a Big 10 brand and peer. Maybe it doesn’t happen but there is definitely interest. And all Pac schools max valuation is when in the BIG too

Cal to the Big 12 is just another mouth to feed

Stanford to the Big 10 checks a lot of boxes. Location, Academics, Research, ND draw, Prestige. etc. Cal not as much, but more than they do for the Big 12. And I think Cal and Stanford have tied themselves together similar to what USCLA and ORWA have.

I do think the BIG takes the 4 from the pac and we should just focus on the 4 corner schools. They are not going to leave usc and ucla on an island.
that leaves Oregon state and WSU to the MWC. Pac goes away.

i do think the ACC will be ripped apart some how also.
I think this is the BIG/SEC and the B12 as #3 thing for football moving forward.

in basketball, these leagues can suck our junk though.

this is all so sad to me, but I am glad ISU is not some of these low level Pac or ACC schools right now.

The BTN carriage fee premium for in market schools could also be a reason why the Bay Area is attractive to Big10. Same reason why Rutgers and Maryland were added.

Explain to me why, if there are other PAC schools the b1g wants, they wouldn’t do it all in one fell swoop.
Everything takes time. I am sure they had worked on things with USCLA for several weeks/months as well as with Media partners on how much the deal would be with and without them.

Then when adding them, you have to see what everyone else's reaction is. What does ND do, what does ORWA do, what is the value of ND and just Stan, what is the value of just ORWA. What if they take the 4 now and then ND comes in 4 years.

Everything is a balancing act. And I am sure they had not dealt with some of them before they announced USCLA, and wanted to see what happened after that point. Then it takes a while to work out the next move.

People think everything happens instantly because the moves seem to be really fast for USCLA and OUT but we just heard about them in the last minute after the deal was done.

While I agree with this take completely, in another sense Warren did them a favor. At least they know where they stand, rather than having a false sense of security.

I feel like Warren could be Fox's (or another media entities) mouthpiece. His comments are basically the kill shot for anyone hoping the pac sticks together.

Tell me the last time a P5 conference raided another P5 conference, then a few weeks later went back for more. What you’re saying doesn’t make any sense.

New Mandel headline: How Warren was a big meanie head today, and how the Pac 12 will convince Alabama to join the conference.

Personally I agree with this take. However the Cali schools approached the big ten with an ultimatum not the other way around. So it’s possible they made the immediate move and then are going to pick up the rest after it happened. With a media rights deal expected this week or very early next I wouldn’t be shocked if realignment was out off for a bit but their could be language written in the contract for a couple specific schools to add. Won’t know for sure until the deal is released.

Warren acted in his own interests. He wants to keep Oregon etc. from signing a GOR just in case the B1G wants them. If it’s a favor to the schools it’s only incidental. His actions were just meant to be in the B1G’s interest.

Why would it be in a week or two? I think the BIG comes for more pac teams but maybe not until next summer. We’ll only know they are done if the pac signs a media deal with a grant of rights.

Cal checks most of those same boxes. Same location, better academics than nearly all in BIG, research, prestige (this is the "peer" group BIG we're talking about).

The Big 12 can't afford to prioritize those items. The BIG's interest in Cal means little as to whether we would prioritize them.
