Ugh, did you have to bring up SDSU again?

I’d be surprised if the PAC offered SDSU unless they know at least one other school is going to leave. The PAC needs to stay at 10 schools to have a championship game and generate that revenue. But adding more schools than that just starts diluting their payouts.

On the other hand, would SDSU agree to take a much lower cut of conference revenues? Like maybe 1/3 of what the others are getting? Is there another school the PAC could add that would take that deal? It’d still be significantly more than they’re making in the MWC. At the same time, that’s introducing unequal revenue distributions and it would open that door up for OR/WA/Stanford.

The PAC as a brand probably won’t die. It’s a better brand name than the MWC. If most current PAC members end up leaving, OR St and WA St and whomever else is left would be more likely to invite MWC members to the PAC rather than the other way around.
Nope, MWC has teams those two if not absorbed by us will be absorbed by MWC not other way around. PAC is dead.

I didn't say they were some great TV draw or football powerhouse. Still a good athletic department

Not disputing that they don't have great Olympic sport teams. They do.

But as a private school they have an advantage in partial scholarship sports over public universities. They can give partial scholarship student athletes esentially a full scholarship in a lot of cases with non-athletic scholarships, grants, endowed $, etc.

Plus it doesn't hurt that they offer an elite academic experience.

I guess I’m not sure when the MWC media deal is up, but it would more than likely be the MWC dies after the PAC is poached. But the PAC would also be dead when their best schools are Oregon St and Washington St. so the PAC would be the new Mountain West, just barely better assuming they grab another school or two from another G5.

They’d try to rival the AAC.

I don't really hate SDSU if we're promoting G5 schools for some reason (though I can't think of one now), but it should be a red flag for everyone that they pretty clearly aren't considered the most valuable school in the MWC based on everything I've read about their contract.

Anyway, I posted something like this in the other B1G media thread, but my rough estimation of available broadcast windows is:

ESPN - ~1 ABC/ESPN game (Saturday normal hours), ~1 ESPN2/U game, ESPN late Saturday night and/or Friday evening

FOX - 3:00 Saturday, 7:00 Saturday unless playoff baseball is on, 1-2 FS1 windows depending on baseball and how the B1G and MWC commitments play out

CBS - Currently runs a few MWC and service academy games at 11:00, so maybe half a window if they go full time with that

NBC - Same as CBS, could be convinced to go full time with the 2:30 ND home game window

That ignores streaming, other cable networks getting involved, and fringe channels like CBSSN and FS2. It's probably enough for the PAC and B12 to survive on if necessary, but ideally enough for the B12 to feast on if the PAC were to split.

Way up there
SDSU has value.

I don't think they bring a ton but of the 3 pst teams the big 12 has a realistic chance of getting, they are the best option.

It feels like the only ways they'd be a serious target is if an odd number of pac teams were added or for some reason a network wanted the league to go beyond 16 teams before the acc **** hits the fan. Even then, there are other g5 teams that might be better options.

Meanwhile over on Hok Report, the children are giddy over the impending collapse of the Iowa State athletic programs. Led by their favorite poster, “Paednoch23”, the nut job who wanted to sue Twins last year. https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/thre...unced-80-100m-per-school.397229/post-10356815
Is that Herky guy still posting? He couldn't keep ISU out of his head. Someone could post, "It's too hot outside to work on the car." He would've likely posted, "Yeah, little brother crying Clowns aren't happy."

Some of those guys are extremely obsessed with everything ISU. You know those are the guys who couldn't get laid in an all woman's prison after an oyster feed.
