The ACC needs Notre Dame to join full time in football. I see no other way the conference can keep FSU, Clemson, or UNC happy without revenue sharing getting totally lopsided.

If those schools were to leave, I’m not sure how anyone would think that the ACC would be coming from any position of power over the Big 12 unless it’s part of a broader Big Ten / SEC expansion where the Big 12 has also lost schools.

I am guessing these leagues will have to disband to lose their baggage (vandy, mizzou, rutgers, indiana, nw etc) and then they will spin up new leagues based of a non geographical name and without numbers of members listed.

seeing how stupid this is going I wouldn't be surprised if there are two leagues sponsored by huge type of companies to give members even more money.

Maybe like the Enron and Worldcom leagues? in the spirit of greed and corruption...

I had mentioned this earlier, but got laughed out of the house: The only way a large super conference can buy the top teams out of their existing conferences will be with backing from something that has endless cash. Where do you suppose that that is? ......... Las Vegas.

They could bankroll the creation of the super conference, start up their own broadcast network, and fund the colleges. So what if it is controlled by a gambling entity, it would make oodles of money for the Texasses and Alababies, and Ohioanians. They could even provide NIL for all of the players.

ESPN doesn't have the money or influence to pull it off. But, since this is not possible ???? I guess a super conference of all of the very best teams can never ???? happen.

I am still not sure these adds hold the conference together once the big 10 and SEC have their way.

Don't leave us out.

I would love to get our pick of the possible leftovers: NC, NCSt, Miami, GaTech, etc. Don't want Syracuse, too far away from WVa. Duke sucks at FB, but could add to BB. And if SEC decided to take Miami instead of Florida St., I would take them instead. (Miami would give them coverage across all of Florida. Florida State is in the same market area as Florida.)

But, I don't expect anything for some time, so it is fun to speculate.

ACC fan boys are all giddy saying that because they have at least one team in California and Texas, that the ACC Network will demand in-state carriage fees, thus generating millions more for the ACC Network. Huh, it's SMU, who is just a blip in the state. Since I live in Texas, I should expect my bill from YouTubeTV to go up ~$1/month due to this in theory? Would it have been the same if Sam Houston State, UTEP, or Lamar got invited instead?

You should put “David B. Miller SMU” into the search engine of your choice if you want to see the reality. He is the primary person funding this for SMU. He has been very generous to other initiatives at SMU…including academics. Estimates are his net worth exceeds Jerry Jones’ net worth (whose kids went to SMU BTW). As I said earlier, do not underestimate the potential for NIL to change the hierarchy of what programs are considered “power” programs.
