This is the part I don't quite understand....if these sources (almost double digits) felt this negatively towards our athletic department why do they hide? Come out and say who you are, answer questions, and stick up for Hines! Until this happens I will not believe anything in the article.

He could have had 200 sources, he didn't have enough facts to back up his claim. Fair or unfair, he has a good chance of getting fired. Either way he's gone. He's going to either back stab the sources (if he reveals them) and probably be worthless for the paper after this story or he's not going to reveal them and get fired.

Coming out and saying he had no problems with the way JP managed the program, and his relationship with JP had nothing to do with him leaving when the reverse is true if the article is to be believed is more than a white lie. And it is causing professional harm to a guy like Hines when he comes out and debunks what would be a true article.in your scenario.

Hines article doesn't say that his relationship had any bearing on him leaving in fact he says that is unanswerable he just cites a source that thinks it is. Saying he didn't have a problem with Pollard is either the truth or a white lie. Any other response would be unexpected but not that one.

If it debunks the source it debunks the article. Whatever, arguing over this is getting tired and passed stupid a long time ago. Nobody's opinion on this is going to change anyways. I didn't question the article at first, but the interviews from JP and Hoiberg switched my opinion significantly. Others aren't going to see it that way. So be it.

Yep. And the national story is we are forcing our basketball team to sleep in hotel ballroom because we are broke. The damage has been done and can't be undone. Hope TJ is as great a recruiter as we think he is because his job just got exponentially more difficult. And for what exactly?

I read the entire thing twice and my reply stands. The fact that you don't understand my rational response is telling. If you like coming home and going to games and seeing your family and your home regardless of truth you quickly shut down any article that speaks for you. Simple as that. I would have been shocked only if Fred didn't do this. You obviously don't believe Fred when he says he loves Iowa State.

You say you read my post twice when everything I wrote explains away everything you are claiming. You really believe that Hoiberg making no comment or at the very least waiting for awhile to comment (instead of right after it's released) would make it difficult for him to come back to ISU? You obviously don't believe Fred means very much to Iowa State.

Here is my take:

A: I believe 100% pollard is cheap. However it is a huge leap to say that contributed to him leaving when we don't know.

B: the people quoted sound incredibly petty.

C: this article and some of the responses are some serious TMZ crap reporting.

D: this seriously isn't relevant. It's been months and there is a new coach in town.

E: it makes Fred look bad. Struggling to get along with Admin when he got hired by an organization that is notorious for struggling with coaches would make me worried if I were only a bulls fan.

I agree with all this. First, I don't think it was a story that needed to be told. There wasn't a whole lot of substance to this reporting. However, I find it a bit disingenuous for Fred to swoop in and refute the story. He obviously has did something that caused otherwise to perceive this rift between him and JP. I just have a hard time thinking that multiple sources would just make up the same story. I have no doubt he said or did something in private that caused people to reach these conclusions, and now he has to save face as he, the golden boy, can't look like he was disgruntled.

Story probably could have gone untold, but I'd really prefer Fred stick to the big leagues and leave us little people alone. It's time to move on, Hines, JP, Hoiberg, fans...it's time for everyone to move on.
