Re: Rhoads agrees to extension at Iowa State

Shouldn't he do something memorable here before we sign him to such a long contract? :jimlad:
Lets see we went 6-6 when everyone said we would be doing good if we went 4-8,beat the hawks ,beat the 19th team in the nation there, and beat the #2 team in the nation but he didnt do anything have another drink

I could not be more thrilled about this news today. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't quite concerned with the Pittsburgh stuff. I thought he would stay, but weirder things have happened.

There has just been something pretty special brewing around Cyclone FB the last 3 years. There have been some down times, but even in some of the losses (specifically Nebraska last year and Kansas State this year) you just get that feeling that we are watching something great.

I don't think there is any other coach I'd rather have at Iowa State and if Paul Rhoads started a cult, I'd probably be his first follower :)

But what else will the Hawks have to make themselves feel better?

True...but who really # phUsking# cares what they think? They are a scared fanbase right now. They will drop to any level to make themselves feel better. Give it 3 years and then we'll see.

Yep! I can tell all my Hok friends are concerned. We are clearly trending upwards and the Hoks....well.....just the opposite.
What if the balance of power in this state legitimately shifts to us? Man, that will really be something. I see signs of it beginning to happen already.

Congrats on signing Rhodes to a long term deal. He's obviously a fantastic young coach and it's great that he is showing loyalty and staying with you all. That's something you don't see too often these days in college sports. I really think you all are in for some good times and fun football. The best thing that happened to our program was Pinkel deciding to stay at Missouri and build his football program here. I look forward to seeing Rhodes do something similar at ISU. The stability of a long term coach is also a great thing to be able to sell to recruits. Rhodes is off to an impressive start up there in Ames and I know I won't be the only tiger fan rooting for you all in the Big 12. The ISU fans I met on our road trip up their in 2010 were friendly and fun to talk with. I was really impressed that we didn't run into even one rude or bad fan. Good luck in your bowl game and in the future against the Big 12.

By the way, it is Rhoads. Maybe you are drunk, just like OWIPinkle...

So ISU Total: $1.46 million + $350K (2011) + $300K (2012) = $2.11 million

As for the OC search: I think it's time to pull the trigger on the Mangino (or should I say, pull the cheese sandwich). Seriously though, we need some kind of offensive genius to take us to the next level...
