Do you have trouble with reading comprehension? Where in the world did I state that I wanted the Cyclones to lose? How in the world would you get that out of my statement?

I said if we lost it would be pouring salt in our wounds. Does that sound like I would want to lose?
I want salt poured into my wounds?

I did say I'd probably laugh because things couldn't get much worse. As in, you laugh because crying doesn't do you any good at that point.

You must have been laughing hysterically at this game. Enjoy the trip down Memory Lane.

That's not really fair. Every stat is skewed with a single game sample. I don't expect Western Ky to remain on top of the passing #'s at 559. Not to mention it was Mangino's first game calling the shots - pass.

I give it a few weeks

That being said - I also don't foresee a tremendous amount of improvement in those numbers. And only expect that points against number to plummet

Do you expect better numbers than last year at this point? Ask me after the next three games how well our offense is scoring. KSU, Iowa and Baylor are all capable of shutting down the offense we saw Saturday.

This thread will be funny when CPR has a team that busts through the win barrier and has a great year. Not one person was against this extension when it happened. Not one.

Speak for yourself. I have always been on an "at will employee". Less than 1% of all employees are on any contract. Mostly teachers. For any person to be on a ten year contract is ludicrous.

That's the business. If Iowa State didn't offer their coaches contracts, we wouldn't ever get any coaches to come here.

I'm as irritated about Saturday as anyone, but some of you seriously need to take a Xanax and calm the hell down.

Ok. I'll put on my amateur AD hat and give an answer that no one will like

1. PR is safe for 2014 *and* 2015. Why? The contract is an issue. I wouldn't want to eat that. Plus I'll have a shiny new SEZ to generate ticket sales next year

2. Bowl game or bust in 2015. Our fans are patient and realistic to a point. A trip someplace warm in December 2015 or it's time to part ways

3. If (big if) PR must go then I break the bank and overpay for an established coach. (Project: Johnny Orr) I say this because I feel the fan base is starting to sour on the "hope" sales pitch. The last "hot" coordinator hire didn't pan out either. I also can see a futue where the Power 5 leaves us behind without some kind of football success. The fan base will demand Ditka, but I will resist. Sage is on speed dial as my Project: Fred if I can't sell an established winner to relocate to Ames. (Half joking)

PR knows today that he must produce. The facilities are in place. We cannot have excuses or any losses to FCS schools. JP has tied his own hands with the current contract, but I believe PR will have 23 games to save his job. 1 loss doesn't make a season, but the pattern is disturbing

Hey guy, the bowl games are in Ames--Texas, OU, yada yada. Shreveport is not someplace warm. Fly Allegiant if you want to go someplace warm.

Yes, and you heard it here first. JP just announced that Rhoads has stepped down as HC, but will take over as DC. Wally has decided to retire, and get as far away from this train wreck as he can.

The Fat Man will still call all the plays.

I do kinds like how Jamie did this. Still gotta pay Rhoads so why not get something out of him than fire him? And you know it's got to be a load off Paul's shoulders.

Another good move by Jamie.
Good plan about CPR, but Fat man won't fill the seats. Give me a name that will hire CPR as asst.

Off how many of the same people whining about Rhoads' contract are the ones 2 years ago screaming for JP to lock him up in a contract so another school couldn't steal him.

This. We may be getting more stars for recruits, but are they the NDSU hard brand of workers that perform in games. This season was sold on hope and change with the new staff, but the team effort did not even meet last years bar.
Interestingly, most all of these local Midwest boys were and are available. Most would have all chosen ISU/Big Xll over NDSU. They all are from "here", and like playing here. Our coach would have Iowa roots, and we could have locked him up at $300k per year.

No one is coming to Iowa State for 300k. We pay Rhoads less than any Big 12 school. If we are going to get another coach, we'll have to pay him more.

Seriously.....people need to be realistic and not stupid. There's a lot of stupid on here.

the tv coaches show last night looked like he was some ISIS prisoner broadcasting from some Applebees in Syria taken with a 8mm camera. It was bad. Almost as bad as some of Chizik's last 3 or 4 coaches shows after the beat downs he took.

I hate the term "rebuilding". It's stupid. Nowhere else do people use that term except when your team sucks.

Is the basketball team rebuilding? They lost most of their production yet no one says they are rebuilding.

Right now we are paying him about $600k per win, more than $300k for the NDSU guy.

Are you saying the recently hired NDSU coach at $300k would not have come to ISU/BigXll for the same salary? Point is NDSU beat our butt on a fraction of our budget and using home grown talent.

Yes they did. They beat Coach Snyder last year. What is your point?

I'm indifferent at this point but can say indifferent as my feelings about Rhoads are progressing downward. So to answer your question, 2 years ago Rhoads was peaking and had just won the biggest game in our history. But now on September 2nd 2014, we have hit rock bottom after getting crushed by a 1AA opponent. Things have changed immensely since that extension. The energy in this program is fading fast.

We will not have a winning season until someone shuts up that stupid "1st Down"!! spastic drivel. OMG!!! We got a first down!!! I am sure recruits are thrilled with that too...

What do we have to do Jamie to get you to take executive action to end stupid crap?!?!!?!? The lame "first down" thing must end. It is embarrassing.

2 years ago was before a 3-9 season and losses to FCS teams in consecutive years.
