I don't hate Bob, but we were not better with him last night.Rob is not perfect, he’s had a few rough stretches….. However there have been games we don’t win without him and his impact. I fully believe there will be more games this season where his hustle and dirty work will be a key part of why we won. Love him or hate him, this team is better with him. Players like Rob are important.
Have been thinking the same. Could be my imagination but feel like our shooting from outside has improved since he’s been out. And just the offense flowing better in general. It’s ultimately a good problem to have for TJ, but going to be interesting to see how he plays this when Jaz comes back.Losing Jaz I was concerned about our perimeter shooting because he's a threat out there, and I haven't looked at stats, but it seems like we're shooting decent from long range.
Just one game. People have skewed memory of him because of that one game . He was a good rebounder his senior year but he was a poor offensive player for all 4 years at ISU.And he was able to average more points than Robert Jones ever will.
Let's look at Jared's game against a truly good North Carolina team in the NCAA tournament his senior year. He had 19 point and 20 rebounds. He didn't quite shoot 50% but he was a force. I love Big Rob Energy, but there is no way in hell he could have done that.

No they don't (or at least I don't). It was merely an example. Perhaps the best example of what the player became.Just one game. People have skewed memory of him because of that one game . He was a good rebounder his senior year but he was a poor offensive player for all 4 years at ISU.
LOL, Jared Homan absolutely was not a poor offensive player for 4 years. He was a very solid offensive player for 2 years and then a very good offensive player is senior year, averaging close to 14ppg and 9rpg. His senior year alone, he had 24 games scoring double figures, including 10 games of 15+.Just one game. People have skewed memory of him because of that one game . Look at his FG percentage. He shot 43%. He was not a guard or stretch 4 or 5, he was a center. Overll, Homan was a better player but he missed as many or if not more bunnies than Jones.LOL, Jared Homan absolutely was not a poor offensive player for 4 years. Very odd post. I don't think anyone has any sort of skewed memory of Homan. He was a really solid college player, really hard-nosed, tough, etc. He is objectively a much, much, better player in every way than Rob Jones.
His FG% is absolutely fine. Objectively a very good college basketball player. Several levels above a player like Rob Jones in every category.Look at his FG percentage. He shot 43%. He was not a guard or stretch 4 or 5, he was a center.
To add, he was asked to take on a more extensive role in the offense is junior and senior years. And did solidly with it, extending his range and adding a solid set jump shot and free throw % to the mix.His FG% is absolutely fine. Objectively a very good college basketball player. Several levels above a player like Rob Jones in every category.
Really it's King taking his minutes - he just got a reprieve with Jaz's injuryI love Watson as a long term prospect, and he's playing great defense right now, but I think Jaz will get his minutes. Jaz isn't as athletic, but he's incredibly crafty, hence all the charges he takes, and he's a better offensive player than Watson is at this stage of his career.
Is there a BigXII team that has that kind of size? I don't think there isThere will be teams with size that TJ will need to play the group of Osunniyi, Jones, Kunc, T King, Watson & Ward closer to 80 minutes.
if you think of past ISU teams - having 6 quality "posts" (Shoon, Jones, Ward, King, Jaz and Watson) to play 60-80 minutes is a huge huge luxury! If needed, that's 30 fouls to play with.Lineup flexibility is a nice problem to have for TJ.
No, he was not . He was a strong inside player without any post moves. He was the best big man we had and played solid minutes, but this doesn’t mean he was several levels above Jones. Jones could have started on 2004-2005 team with Blalock and Stinson. Point I am trying to make is some people are too harsh on Jones. Everyone misses bunnies including beloved Homan. His FG% is absolutely fine. Objectively a very good college basketball player. Several levels above a player like Rob Jones in every category.
I think we wanted our bigs on Carr late in the game.Is there a BigXII team that has that kind of size? I don't think there is

I would also add that the second half last night was one of the first times all season I've seen us switching everything. Shoon and Jones got switched on Carr several times and did a very good job keeping him in check. We switched up our PnR defense several times during the game (KG is a wizard)
I think Holman had a pro career that was more than one or two years. Not happening with Jones. And he was able to average more points than Robert Jones ever will.

Why is it so hard for some people to accept the fact that Jone is a decent offensive player? I never said he was a better than Homan. All I said was some people are too harsh on Jones whenever he misses a shot even though a player like Homan missed as many if not more easy shots than Jones. He is a decent player who is playing an important role for a top 15 team.I think Holman had a pro career that was more than one or two years. Not happening with Jones.
