So this is something that has baffled me for the longest time, but I thought maybe it was just me. Sitting on the same side as your gf/bf/significant other at restaurants, weird and creepy or cute and romantic, what say you?

Obviously the right answer is weird and creepy, but I'd like to hear from any same side sitters we might have on CF.

I would say when it's just the 2 of you, sitting on the same side is weird & creepy.

If with a group or on a double date, though, I would probably prefer side by side.

I hate sitting on the couch next to my girlfriend, let alone sitting down next to her in a restaurant when a perfectly acceptable solution is right there.

What about at a round table? The wife and I went to BWW the other day and they sat the 2 of us at a round table meant for 6. We sat next to each other, but everything about it felt wrong. But I don't think there was a correct answer to this problem! :twitcy:

Ok so you and your girl doing this is bad enough obviously....But I have a friend that when we go to restraunts, say twin peaks for example, he gets all ****** he cant see so he insists on sitting next to you while your eating whether its a booth or a high top table. It is seriously weird. Obviously when he does this I get up and just move to the side w/ no view.

He then just stares creepily at people. More often then not he gets in an argument at a bar for staring at people. When sitting in a booth he will turn around and just stare at the people behind us like nothings wrong with it.

Sitting right across from each other is too businesslike, IMO. I like the 90 degree angle when sitting at a table, but in a booth I prefer straight across because same side in a booth is really strange.

A large round table is a little tricky, I'd say atleast 1 chair separating you and your wife should be the minimum. For a small round table, say 4 chairs, I would say it's acceptable for one person to be on the North side and the other to be due East, just make sure you err towards South East and not North East of course.

Weird. Unless you're 14. Then it's just sad.

Why is he your friend again?

I hate sitting side by side with my girlfriend even if we are in a group. If am going to be talking to her or more like she is going to be talking the whole night, I want to be able to look at her more easily that sitting right across from has to offer opposed to sitting side by side. I tell my gf this and she thinks I'm weird.

Never do this. Same side sitters just look like they're waiting for someone else to sit down.
