I’m conflicted with this, but it’s an honest question. Every single game and it doesn’t matter if we are playing UNI or Texas, it seems half the damn crowd leaves at half and NEVER makes it back by kickoff of the second half. It kills the 3rd quarter atmosphere IMO. It feels like we are the only fans that do this because every other game I watch of another school their lower level stands are still packed come second half kickoff. Ours looks like everyone just decided to head on home.
While half of those fans have left the stadium, the other half are still waiting in line at the concession stands until the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Last year my nephew went to get a bite to eat before halftime and missed the entire 3rd quarter. We about filed a missing person report.

I don't know why anyone would be against leaving the stadium. It don't effect you. It allows people to go eat or drink something really quick. Everyone else is simply waiting in line and the concession don't support that many people trying to get food and drink. So why would you be against people leaving and coming back in?

I've said this in another place but...

I was on the committee when we brought alcohol sales to UNI. Iowa State and Montana were the only two schools legal counsel could find that allowed re-entry at all whether there were alcohol sales or not. Montana has since ended it. It's a dinosaur that I'm shocked Iowa State still allows. Not to go off on a tangent but there are so many other security concerns with allowing it.
colorado has been selling beer to the public for a few years (they stopped for about 20 years). They have always allowed re-entry until this year.

You have to let people leave and comeback.

For example reapply sunscreen, rehydrate with water, get a snack that’s not a minimum $10 at the concessions, or take a medication.

Also, we are very lucky to have the tailgating lots surrounding the entire stadium. Other schools like Iowa or Nebraska you would have to walk 20 minutes or even miles to get back to your tailgate.
It's 3 hours not the death march.

Doesn't impact me since I don't drink, but I've never understood how fans have any joy in rushing to their tailgate, chugging a beer or two, and rushing back. Halftime isn't that long.
Yeah unless your tailgate is literally right outside the stadium (and even then) just walking to the tailgate and back to your seat has to take up almost the entire halftime or more. I've never understood this one either.

No one gets readmitted once 3rd quarter begins. Only the elitists have that option anyway. Not an option for the poor.

Those who are opposed should go to a Missouri home game. The stadium was designed for Big 8/12 rules allowing fans to leave and return at halftime. Now the concourse is packed at halftime and getting to a toilet or concession stand in a mass of humanity is something I don't want to experience. I'm 15 minutes from the stadium and haven't been to a game for years. They spent $175 million of SEC money on luxury suites and never did anything to account for the SEC no pass out rule. The decision makers are all in luxury suites and don't experience the crush of fans in the concourse.

Are you going to donate money to spend millions to reconfigure your stadium to accommodate the crush of 60,000 people trying to get to a toilet or concession stand?

No but I am perfectly capable of sitting through a game without needing to go to a concession stand or go to the bathroom.

Most people aren't. I live 15 minutes from Memorial Stadium in CoMO and haven't been to a game in years. SEC no pass out rule is a factor in that decision. I don't **** my pants at home watching on tv. I have full access to food and drink at home. I guarantee unless ISU spends big money to accommodate for the crush of fans in the concourses at half time many fans will be alienated and quit going to games. Missouri couldn't draw 60K for Georgia last year. Many of us have quit attending games. KSU is sold out this coming Saturday only because KSU fans are showing up in force.

This is simply not true. The east club section is absolutely empty when the third qtr starts.

LMAO that you disagree with this @alarson, that isn't even up for debate. I'll grab a pic if I'm able to get to the OSU or TCU games. I have a birds eye view from the west lower bowl and it's clockwork how empty those club sections are.

So some people leave the stadium just so they can use bathrooms outside the stadium? I get the appeal to running to the car for a beer (I don't agree with it), but the porta-potties as a better option from a bathroom perspective is a new one to me.

When i tailgated right along the stadium in S4, it was quicker to go out there, hit a kybo, or maybe grab a hot dog off the grill (we often had people come just to tailgate in those days so itd still be going) and to come back than to do either of those things inside the stadium. It was rarely about grabbing another beer for me.

Our concessions facilities in particular are a mess. As someone mentioned, having only one concourse on each side for 60k people is fairly inadequate, plus the operations of the facilities we do have are incredibly slow.

I sit in that club section most games. Those people are inside (just as they are in the SEZ club), not out in the lots (and like the concourse, the club gets very crowded during half). Your example was a bad one for that reason.

They should probably just start selling beer and end re-entry. I've been one who has left at half and crushed a few beers many, many times. As much as I love the band, I find the halftime shows to be incredibly boring. I have too much energy to sit through that and in the past, I would rather meet the people at my tailgate and discuss the game. Lately, I'd rather not talk about the game. It's almost a chore going and there hasn't been much to discuss. At this point, I'd rather just go wait in line for a beer in the concourse.

It's kind of a fine line, though. Are the restrooms large enough to cancel re-entry? Are the concourses big enough for an extra beer line? How does it affect Sukup/JT Club sales? Would they need to set up a separate kiosk somewhere and some place to hand out wristbands?

They sell beer at Memorial Stadium. Would you prefer to pee yourself in a concourse waiting in line?
