All I will say is all we've hired since the big 12 was the big 8 is coordinators. That can definitely work, and we've had modest success at times, but if we get Campbell, you're hiring a guy who has already been a successful coordinator, and has been a successful head coach for several years, and is used to WINNING. There's several candidates I'd be happy with, but getting a head coach that has been successful in a decent conference is what we need. No on the job training, and a guy that can make the team better this offseason, instead of learning how to conduct meetings and press conferences.

Keep in mind, this is almost identical to the Prohm hire:
-Both successful mid major coaches
-Prohm (4 years experience), Campbell (5 years experience)
-Both are young and vibrant, which should be a major plus in recruiting
-Both are inheriting arguably the most talented rosters ISU has ever had

I wouldn't call either one vibrant. Not at all.

That doesn't mean they won't win though. Ferentz isn't vibrant either. If you can coach that doesn't matter.

We've also only really hired defensive coordinators though. I wouldntve minded hiring a P5 OC

lol at the last point. CPR was not a great coach but he wasn't THAT terrible. This roster has glaring holes.

I'm sorry that's not remotely true for football. We have some good pieces, but c'mon.

I just hope Pollard doesn't prematurely give a 10 year extension with an impossible buyout like Rhoads got to Campbell after he wins 8 games next year.

I think this is a great pull for ISU and we will probably retain our RBs coach helping to keep Warren around.

terrible reason to hire a head coach, unless you have young Hershel Walker and Tony Dorsett on our roster

This guy beat CPR this year with about half as much talent. I'd be ok with that.

You may want to read up on a thing called partial qualifiers. People who think mac schools have no talent need to wake up. They can take players ISU cannot.
