I like him, but will he embrace the cold weather? Same for Patterson. Those guys have been living in the South for a long time now. I've got to believe that may have factored into Chizik's decision to go back to Auburn.

Could have, but really you only deal with 1-2 harsh games a year.

Steve this is the first I've heard of Derek, but you've peaked my curiosity. He is a very intriguing candidate.

I like him too. I've heard him interviewed, and he is a very articulate and intelligent man. He would be great in living rooms. I don't know how many of the coaches from our last staff were great in living rooms...

So no one thinks it is an issue that he works with McCarney, and Pollard probably isn't his favorite person in the world?

I see Patterson as a long shot, but the guy who would need the least time to develop a winner. Strong might be looking like the best option if it comes down to going the coordinator route. I would expect to see some immediate progress, but the turnaround would be more at the pace that Mangiano experienced at KU.

One option that I would take a hard look at before closing the deal with anyone else would be Derek Dooley. I'm impressed with the bloodline, Saben background, NFL experience, recruiting responsibilities, ties to talent hotbeds, and the improvement that he has demonstrated since he has been at LaTech.

well looking at the stats of his team at the bottom of that, they have certainly improved in pretty much every catagory there is.... i think pollard is going for a big excitement name though... Patterson, Strong, Petersen all fit the bill

That is probably a good point, but I think he also is waiting to take his shot at at HC position.

It's certainly possible...

I think this could factor alot too, the only spot I see him still being talked about for is UCF and they haven't let O'Leary go yet... Dan may be a bigger man about it and sell him on Ames... Dan may also see the chance to move into the DC job at Florida...

i dont think dan would talk bad about ISU... after what he did for us and how much the fans loved him and gave back to him. he did leave on rocky terms with pollard, but i doubt he would turn his back on this fanbase like that

I would imagine that the chances are very good that whomever Pollad offers the job to, that coach just might call McCarney before giving an answer. Just a hunch... I'm sure a few who are interested in ISU have called him already.

I could see that as a win-win for both of them (and us). Strong hasn't gotten his shot yet, and I'm sure he would want to jump on it pretty soon, but who knows.

I think I'm on too many bandwagons....
Now is the perfect time to go after a big name (Strong or Patterson) because we are the only BCS job currently open.
I honestly have no idea what to expect though.
Also, Barry Switzer?

I was just looking at Dyron Dye's rivals profile just because I was interested if there's been any updates about him, I know we won't get him since we don't have a coach, and because Scott Fountain was recruiting him and he will probably join Chizik's staff in Auburn. But then I saw who was recruiting him from Florida, Charlie Strong.
