I did give Steve Prohm a C+. I believe that his attaining a B+ or better rating from me was nearly impossible without winning either a regular season conference championship, a conference tournament championship, or the NCAA championship is impossible. I will agree that he was given an very difficult situation to walk into. And that the situation was framed by very unrealistic expectations going into the season. That the players he was left with to attain the projected goals were few in number, was not his fault. And it is not disputable that the decision Naz had to make also reduced the on court options of this new coach.

Unfortunately, I was also quite disappointed about how this team played in the first few games of this past season. There was little improvement in how this team played. They were ragged and ill-prepared for the start of the season. Though this did not result in losses, it certainly allowed Colorado to stay in a game that they should have been blown out in. It allowed the Hawkeyes to establish a 20 point lead that we were lucky to overcome. It allowed for a good team like UNI to win. That Coach Prohm did not push for more discipline from his players earlier makes me wonder. But I have to rely on him to have made the proper judgement with players that may have used their popular clout with the fans to push back.

I am glad for the reasonable finish to the season. I am glad for the coming season where I expect coach Prohm will elevate his standing with me. I am thankful that the coaches seem to be very aware of the fact that they must "refill the cupboards" with talented players in numbers larger than what they had available to them this past season.

Quite frankly, I'm quite disappointed in Coach Hoiberg for not leaving more talent and for simply not sticking around for one more season.

I agree as a casual observer. He didn't leave the program with the right weapons going forward.

I give him a B. He got screwed by the timing of his hire and the loss of Naz. It also took the players way too long to buy in, which is a shame. This season won't define him as ISU's head coach though. The real coaching job is just beginning.

Most important line of the entire thread.

Great coaches swallow their pride and adapt their system to fit the players they have. That is exactly what CSP did. I don't think people realize how bad this season could have gone. I don't care how good a team is, a new coach taking over an incredible team and have everything go perfectly never happens.

Return of 1st team all american
Return of Big 12 DPOY
Return of best PG in the Big 12
Return of a roster that finished 1 game from Big 12 regular season title
10-8 in conference (1 game above .500)
2 home losses!
Loss to UNI
First round Big 12 loss
Highest seed beaten in NCAA (12) - Not his fault Purdue lost but still
Not even competitive with UVA - even with home crowd

The Loss of Naz was not a good thing - BUT - It is not like we lost an all Big 12 caliber player here. Career Under 10 pt scorer. Suspect Defense. Not trying to tear him down - but people on here talk bout him being the difference between a CRAP season (yes crap - with this roster) and a national title.

C- Totally underwhelming season. CSP can thank Georges that this isn't an F

Wow, get a ******* grip.

Great hire, great job! His managing of personalities and coaching through adversity was phenomenal. When the wheels started coming off the bus McKay flaking out, Naz out, he found a way to get those guys to buy-in, adjust, and succeed. I'm looking forward to seeing what the Prohman Empire has in store for us next year. Should be another great one!!

I gave him a B, but I'm getting anxious about all the recruits making it on campus. Much of his future rests in getting these kids in jerseys and keeping them on the basketball court. I think this year will be even more challenging for Prohm, considering some of the possible academic issues and need for improvement in himself.

This year will be significant, but I think he had to take some chances due to the late start. If most of it works out, I think it's a great class. If we lose a piece, his strategy was understandable.

I'd rather lose a home game to a top 15 team than lose to UAB first round to end the season. Fred did that to round out his career at ISU.

Call it what you want - He lost more games at home than Fred lost in the previous 3 seasons.

15-16: 2 Losses
14-15: 1 Loss
13-14: 1 Loss
12-13: 1 Loss
