1) He finished 6th in a 10 team league.
2) Subing pattern was head scratching at times.
3) Did not get on officials hard enough when it was clear ISU was getting a raw deal. The greats, Bill Self, Tom Izzo, Mike K, would get T's to male a point it's horse crap.
4) To many games the team felt unprepared and out maneuvered with no answer for what was happening.

This is about where i'd have it. The regular season was disappointing, KC was disappointing. Even without Naz, we had plenty of talent. Thomas stepped up big this year, which cuts into some of that loss. Mckay had his issues, but without being an insider, its hard to know whether that could have been handled better. Hoiberg was generally a good talent manager and kept some (though not all... looking at you BDJ) players in things when they were basketcases otherwise (Royce, Jameel). We're rarely going to get the 'total package' here, so if we want that high level talent we're going to have to have a coach that can manage the 'issues'. Can Prohm do that? Time will tell. Additionally, some of his in-game decisions are puzzling at times. His timeout usage is almost the anti-scott drew, taking way too long to stop runs, and cutting off our own momentum calling TOs right as we make a bucket.

We made the sweet 16, which is a nice feather in the cap, but with the talent we have against the teams we faced, thats a fairly average accomplishment. Likewise its not a negative on Prohm that we lost to UVA.

And no matter what the 'jury should still be out' as we dont know how he'll be without one of the most talented teams to play at ISU.

This is a good start.
5) Didn't position team to finish strong and lost a lot of close games.
6) Didn't develop bench in early season contributing to depth issues in conferance.
7) Didn't use timeouts to slow opponents runs and appeared to dampen Cyclone runs.
8) No 2016-2017 recruits over 6'9"
9) No 2016-2017 recruits ranked in top 100 ( JL close)

Niang, Thomas and Morris were all top 100. Lack of highly ranked players will put a ceiling on the future. 8 and 9 may end up being the defining points of this years coaching grade.

I give him a C- Prome pasted on some transfers thinking he could get some one from the south. Recurring this year is not good for where we want to go. He got out coached to many games. I M O.

I give you a F since you can't even spell the coach's name.

I don't think Prohm can be graded on this season. He inherited a talented but flawed team and a pretty much impossible situation with expectations so high. Prohm did some things as a coach this year that he normally wouldn't do in order to smooth the transition. His efforts worked because the team obviously responded to him. Georges said as much. We will see more of the Prohm coaching style next year. I think he will turn out quite well for us.

How many time in our history have we been a top 4 seed and made the sweet 16? And people really think he did a bad job? Wow.

But he was hired to succeed with this team. We might have gone with someone else if we just ignored this year.

I just don't see six more wins with Long.

Agree. No doubt losing him for the season was a detriment to expectations. Probably would have won the UNI game simply because that’s the first game ISU had to adjust abruptly to his absence. And there’s “depth-perceptionâ€: maybe we win one or both WVa/Baylor at home. I don’t intend to minimize his actual scoring contribution, which would’ve been a boost, obviously (but that’s a 100% Naz, too, we can’t forget about that).

You mean when have we had this much overhype, lose a sr. Starter and continue the overhype unabated?

Ah, yes, the overhype spin again.

Niang. Morris. A returning DPOY in McKay. A Thomas that improved so much to make up for Naz's loss.

We were absolutely deserving of that hype. Hell, we had so many close losses, it shows we werent all that far from reaching that hype.

We played to our seed so that's a win in my book for the post season portion. B+

In the non-con, I think we did as well as we could expect with a coaching change. We lost to UNI and A&M. Both tourney teams away from home. B+

We hit a little bit of a slump during the conference season but the league was strong this year and it's full of good coaches. Considering we lost Naz and McKay had a rough patch, I'd still give it a C.

Overall grade: B

Definitely a strong B+, IMO. Only reason I don't give him an A- is the early exit from the Big 12 tourney.

My grade is a much different grade after being Chicago and watching the warm-up, the second warm-up, and comparing the game plan executed compared to the volumes of reading on Bennet's defense. It has somewhat shaded my view of the coaching and execution throughout the season. I am troubled but cautiously optimistic. I have decided to view this season as an audit class of pass or fail. He has passed but need much more fact pattern to have a greater confidence index.

The people citing the loss in the Big 12 tourney as a huge negative blow my mind. That is literally a Final Four team and our PG had a bum shoulder.
