His recruiting here called into question his level of contacts anywhere.
Definitely. But, he kept trying to go down south for recruits and it just didn't work. Anyone that we were after down there were going to have SEC offers. And even though most of those schools don't really care about MBB, it was tough to pull those kids up north. I just think that at Murray, if you can get the kids just below SEC level, you have a chance to be successful in the MVC. We'll see.

Prohm will probably not make it long term. He’s taking over a decimated program that’s moving up to the MVC.
The Murray people are completely in denial about what a huge step up in competition they're coming into. Outside of Evansville, there aren't anymore SEMOs, Tennessee Techs and Austin Peays to get to play twice a year.

Sad that so many bitter ISU fans are still complaining about Prohm. Move on, just like both ISU and he did.

Who knows how it will work out, but this seems like a great move for both parties. He (and his family) love Murray and the area, and Murray and the fans love him.

I suspect he'll get some pretty darn good PG recruits given his track record in identifying and developing PGs. I also suspect he might still have a few connections in the Chicago area that might push their tier 2 kids his way.

Notably, at the MV level, having a really good PG with some tier 2 shooters can result in a fair amount of success.

George was an ISU recruit, no matter what, and I forget how many points Griffen scored. And who recruited THT on the staff?

Prohm still had to get them. But Halliburton and Hunter were all him.

Way up there
Didn't one coach in Chicago specifically talk about Prohm and say something along the lines of he'd love to send any of his players to play for him? Seems like it was related to Zion but I can't remember. The guy went out of his way to mention Steve though.

Prohm wasn't a good fit at ISU, it happens A LOT.

A coach can have great success at one place and fail miserably at another. The college coaching landscape is littered with guys who were going to be the next Roy Williams, Bill Self, Tom Izzo, Bob Huggins, etc. etc. etc. but who failed miserably at their next school(s). Ie Tom Crean, Archie Miller, Shaka Smart, Steve Alford, Frank Martin, Chris Mack to name a few.

I hope Prohm has success at Murray State. Hiring coaches is a crap shoot. Should we expect anything else in a country where finding the "Perfect Person for Me" ends in divorce around 50% of the time? :)

Yes. The Prohm doesn’t know chicago people is just a bunch of people who are still mad at Prohm for failing. Sure Robinson made the contacts but Steve Prohm knows a ton of coaches around the country. These guys all start out as recruiting assistant coaches. You don’t have a job at any D1 school without getting to know AAU coaches.
