Kentucky is VERY talented, but IMO if both teams had shot right around their averages, this game would have come right down to the end.

It seemed like everything Kentucky threw up went in, and we were not only missing every 3 pointer, we were also blowing layups at times. I just would have liked to see them miss one or two and see us make one or two.... and then we would have had a ballgame.

As for Royce... he was the best basketball player on the court last night, but he probably shouldn't have said that he was. But I love his fire and energy.

As for Kentucky's players not being like that... give me a flippin' break. Their stud center seems like a good quiet kind of kid, but the rest are talkin' trash all game long... and to the refs too as we saw.

UK just beat us like a rented mule plain and simple.

We didn't shoot our "average" because they played excellent defense. They are after all the best team in the country for a reason. Our defense plan was to take them out of the paint and they executed.

To the OP thanks for posting. Good luck the rest of the way and please completely humiliate the Hitler youth and the meth heads from misery every time you play in conference.

Did you watch the game? If so you should go back and watch again and count the 15, yes 15 wide open 3's and lay-ups we missed and then tell me again about how great their defense was.

I'll give them credit for shooting better then they have all year, but I just can't bow down and give them credit for our missed open shots that we've hit all year.

Maybe you should watch again with a little more analysis and a little less emotion.

If you do you will see that a big percentage of the threes we missed were taken too quickly or by the wrong shooter. We just were not able to get the inside out game going that we have depended on all year.

There is no excuse for the missed layups but in the end they would not have made the difference.

There shots were falling and ours were not, not a lot you can do when you defend the best you can and they still make it. It was Kentucky's night and the opposite for us, but very proud of this team and where our program is heading. Our players brought us back baby!!!!

Good luck the rest of the way UK you are a very tough team to beat.

Yes I did watch the game, a few times. They were contested shots. We had maybe a handful of "open" 3's all game. There is never an excuse for a missed layup but blown concentration. But the reason we went 3-22 from 3pt range was their defense. They are an extremely long and nimble defense. We normally hit 3s when they are contested, they just didn't fall last night. We definitely played well enough to win and competed the best we have all season.

With UNC losing Marshall, Syracuse losing Melo, Duke out, Missery out already....this is turning into a very weak field. If Cal can't win the tourney (and keep the trophy for a year or two), then he is truly an awful coach.

I'm skeptical of your definition of "wide open" when it comes to 3's.

Then go back and watch the replay. We were as open in the game as we have been all year. We just missed and sometimes you have nights like that. But had very little to do with KY defense.

If KY shoots the way they did, they will win it all until it is vacated. However, if we hit the shots we hit all year long, and they shot their normal percentage this would have been a dog fight. I'm okay with that because in basketball that happens...even when you're open.

I think you are right, but I think you have to give some credit to the Kentucky defense and their length, as the shooters may have been open, but felt less comfortable due to their opponent. It doesn't take much to send a three pointer off the mark.

That could be, but I think that is more mental. I mean we play a lot of good teams that are quick and have some length. Most of those games we hit open shots. And I guess my main point is that if we played Kentucky 10 more times, I don't think we would shoot that poorly again. So to me that means it is more us having an off night then KY really shutting us down.

I agree with that.

Seems like a lot of sour grapes in this thread.

We were picked to finish 8th in the conference, we finished 3rd. We were told we wouldn't be in the tournament or were barely on the bubble by "experts", yet we made it in. That UCONN was already penciled in to play Kentucky, yet we won. We just got beat by probably the best team in the nation. They beat us because they are a better team. Congrats Kentucky.

I'm proud of our team. And I know the future looks very bright.

Well said! I'm not a Calipari fan and would not be happy if ISU openly courted the one-and-done's, but I was impressed with the assemblage of talent on that floor. For much of the game, ISU took away the vaunted options and other guys stepped up. How can you not be impressed by that!?!

I would have been more impressed if the Clones had hit the shots they normally make . . the game would have been a barn burner at the end.
