When it comes to football.......the most depressing loss I can remember is the 2005 game at KU to win the north. If sports overall......I was thinking Hampton or UAB, but that was more anger than depression. The 1997 last second loss to UCLA in the sweet sixteen takes the cake for me. Although the 2000 "double foul" loss to MSU it up there.

Today after the game it was like......great season guys. Then I remembered it's not over! So absolutely no depression today.

KU and MIZZou in 04/05 piss me off way more than today.

This one isn't too bad. Glad we came back and had a chance. We'll be back.

Seems like the KSU losses were bad, but one was particularly brutal. Don't remember which year, but I think KSU came back and won last second, Snyder said "they deserved to win" or something like that. That one put me into a fit of rage.

I was disappointed but I was much more composed than other Cyclone nut kicks for some reason. I think it’s because I have a feeling we’ll be here again soon. Toughest meaningful loss I’ve experienced was Elite 8 against Michigan state. That was such a fun ride and didn’t want it to end. We would have been to that level had we won today but I’ve enjoyed this season unlike no other in my history of watching Cyclone football.

UAB - 2 fold, we lost and we were first game out the gate and took all the enjoyment out of my favorite time of the year. Couldn't watch any other tournament games that first weekend.

This. Had a flight to Vegas to do March Madness with some friends. Bought tickets way before matchups were announced. Watched ISU lose at airport before weekend ever got started.

This is mine. ISU was a popular dark horse pick that year to make the Final Four, and then that clunker out of the gate happened against UAB.

I had an ISU branded Dammit Doll at the time that I got as a white elephant gift a few years before that, and always jokingly kept it on display near the TV “just in case”. I whacked the hell out of some furniture for a solid 15 minutes after that game.

It's pretty tough. I hope we're in contention next year and going forward, but when the opportunity is there I really want to grab it. So many things can happen to screw up your chances in the future. I mean who expected a pandemic. But really just talking injuries, unlucky bounces, etc.

This one hurts, no doubt. But there are no indications that this is a program hitting it’s peak. The 2002 ISU team (first 6or 7 games) was a team hitting its peak. So many prices of this team are coming back next year, we have every right to expect them to be right back in contention in 2021. Campbell has the foundation for this program laid. Time and again this staff has taken 3 star prospects and developed them into all-conference players.

I was really hoping to celebrate a win today. It didn’t happen, but this team showed they belonged. There was nothing flukey about going 8-1 in conference.

This was another step along the way for the program. It feels like a setback, but I like our odds to get another crack at it next year. Let’s go win a bowl game. Go Cyclones.

I felt 1,000,000,000 times better walking out of the stadium yesterday than I did walking out of the Palace at Auburn Hills (Elite 8 Michigan State 2000).

I was pretty pissed after the game and during it due to so many self inflicted wounds.

When will ISU get to a big game and not have multiple offsides in crucial situations? Why keep forcing things inside when the edge was more available?

Not feeling too bad today but the image of that last play with Soehner streaking down the middle all alone will linger.

The 2nd game of the 1977 Season @ Iowa ....Choke eyes 12 & ISU 10...

The hoks never won another game that season while our beloved Cyclones went on to have a eight win season, beat the Huskers over in Lincoln (My wife got us tickets thru her uncle in Bellevue, Nebraska ...On a bright sunny day we stunned the mighty Huskers 24-21....One of the greatest victories of my lifetime....We also attended the Peach Bowl in Atlanta,GA......24,000 Cyclone Fans flooded the streets of downtown Atlanta.....

Had this been a Rhoads/McCarney team that won the north and lost a down to the wire Big12 title game, it would have been so devastating. There was a MOUNTIAIN in front of them to even consider winning the championship.

However knowing "on paper" ISU will be one of the favorites to be back in Dallas next year takes some of the sting away. Knowing that even when ISU wasn't at their best they took OU to the wire.

There will be speculation with Kolar/Hall leaving early, but about 90% of the starters/key depth players return. OSU/UT come to Ames next year.

Enjoy the journey.
Savor the wins.
Relish the fight.
Onward to Dallas!(2021)

Hall still has to stay a year before he can go to the NFL.
