Its weird. I didnt take the loss that hard.

I kind of accepted it when we were solidly down and was just glad we made it close at the end, though of course i wish we would have won.

I also think it hurts less when all signs are we should be plenty good in the future. Hopefully we can make it back next year.

I was the picture of calm and maturity after the loss. But tonight I am getting REALLY SAD about the whole thing.

I’m more sad for the players than for the fact that we lost. I can live with it, but I know it hurts for them.

Oh, for sure. I’m known among my friends as the person who is constantly worried about how players are feeling and how they they could probably use a hug ;). There’s no one more concerned about a bunch of strangers’ feelings than me.

I’m just a bit sad that they were so close and this fun season is almost over.

This hurts as much as the Vikes losing to Saints in the NFC Champ Game. Similar feel too. Refs causing mayhem and a serious choke job to boot.

Its been a while, but the older I get the less it affects me.
Yep, I've already made it to the acceptance stage. This is still the best ISU team I've ever seen. I was too young for the 70s teams. And honestly, growing up in Eastern Iowa, I honestly didn't even know that there *was* an Iowa State University until my teens.

Testifying
Today we clawed back and show we belonged, so honestly I think I'm handling it well.

I took the Paul Rhoads not kneel down the ball at KState much worse.
Being up like 20-0 on KU in Ames and then we piss it down our leg and let Todd Reesing own us.
Losing the last telephone game vs Mizzou.
Not closing out the B12 North vs Mizzou in Ames and sharing it.
Not connecting on the 2pt conversion to send Nebraska out on a 2 game skid vs us.

The most depressing ISU loss for me was against UAB. What made it worse is that I took the day off to watch the game. Of course it was the very first game of the whole tournament. After the loss, I turned off the TV and did not watch any other games that tournament. I was angry as hell and then just depressed.

I was living in Hawaii at that time, so I had to wake up at something like 5am just to watch that abomination.

I also did not watch another game of that tournament.

same, I’m not taking it bad...it’s odd, not sure why, normally I would be devastated

It’s kind of one of those things, isu just made too many mistakes, if we had better special teams you probably win...I feel like maybe that’s part of this process...whole team has to be complete

I know this is the Football forum but I would say the 2000 Elite 8 Game against MSU is my all time nut kick moment when it comes to ISU moments. We had that game nearly locked up until the momentum swung on the infamous double foul block/charge call that the wheels came off and we imploded after that. Was watching the game at a game watch in KC before the women were to tip off in the Sweet 16 that year and the atmosphere and buzz was awesome when it looked like we were headed to the Final 4 then when things feel apart it was a somber walk to watch the women play who also lost a heart breaker game.

If I had to pick a moment for football it's 1 of the 2 missed FGs at the end of the last game of the season by Shaggy that would have put us in the conference championship game under McCarney.

So I am solidly in the depression stage of my grieving process right now. I really settled into the denial stage for a while, thinking that we made it to the championship and thats a major accomplishment... but nah. This one hurts... REAL bad. I'll be over it tomorrow after bowls are announced and whatnot, but this is rough right now..

So I started thinking, when was the last time I took a football loss this hard. For whatever reason, I keep landing on that 2005 Nebraska loss. We should have won that game. Leaders had the interception hit him in the chest in OT to win that game. That one hurt for days. How about you?

I‘ve never been more amped up for a season as I am for 2021.

I hate to even bring this up but for me it was in 1985 when we lost to Drake in football. I felt like we were at rock bottom and should never lose to Drake in football. I was depressed for days after that loss. They were so bad they dropped their football program the following year.

Yes I am disappointed we lost today. I felt like going in our chances were good and the whole time during the game I expected us to come back. In the 4th quarter I thought we were going to come back and win 28 - 27. But I am so looking forward to the bowl game and next year for this team I am almost over the disappointment of the loss already.

When it comes to football.......the most depressing loss I can remember is the 2005 game at KU to win the north. If sports overall......I was thinking Hampton or UAB, but that was more anger than depression. The 1997 last second loss to UCLA in the sweet sixteen takes the cake for me. Although the 2000 "double foul" loss to MSU it up there.

Today after the game it was like......great season guys. Then I remembered it's not over! So absolutely no depression today.
