The offense has zero identity

I’ll add that I think some of this is an attempt to establish an identity.

Can we run when we don’t have the numbers?

Can we run when they have the numbers?

When even a casual fan notices that they are stacking the box, while we have obvious advantages out wide, and we still run?

That’s working on a weaker spot, and establishing a mindset.

Like many of you I continue to be frustrated with our play calling and execution on the line.
Do any of you have guesses as to why we don't run more outside zone or really any outside of the tackle runs for Montgomery? I feel like we need to get him in space way more often and the times we have gotten it to him outside have been successful. Maybe I'm missing something.

Once you put two guys 7 yards back you lose the chess match. It just gives the defense more time to cover them.

Huh? I’m not talking about every down...and you can do a ton with 2 RB’s in backfield...We ran this all the time under Loney at times with both backs criss crossing...one going out for a pass..etc..

If u are a LB..which back has the ball? Instead of knowing for sure who has it. I disagree.

Especially if we are not going to let the QB run at all, which is probably a good idea.

Year 3, and we don’t have a good offensive line and I don’t think it’s going to improve much this year.

When will we (I don’t follow recruiting close enough to know so it’s an honest question)?

Next year? 2 years?

I am getting tired of hearing "We are taking what the defense is giving us."

If all we are doing is taking what the defense gives us then their defense is dictating what we are doing on offense.

I would enjoy it if we came up with a gameplan that attacked a weakness in their defense. Then when they adjust we attack the new weakness in their defense the adjustment created.

This offensive playcalling is giving my flashbacks to some of Mac's ultra conservative playcalling that could never put an opponent away.

We miss Manning a lot. He was making chicken salad out of chicken ****. Easy to see why he is coaching in the NFL, he's good at what he does. ISU has played 1/4th of the season and the OL has not looked very good at all. I am worried.

Not ready to panic, but we have not seen a lot so far, and it doesn't sound like any reserves are going to step up and make things happen. The fact that true freshmen are the guys in the two deep doesn't say a lot about the rest of the guys.

Did you watch the last half of last year?
We made Memphis look like a good defense. And that was with Campos and Lazard, plus experience in Ryen and Murdock. We weren’t any better with Manning.

Sorry. Can't even follow what point you're trying to prove. Lack of a consistent run game is limiting this team. It hurt last week big time against OU and will continue to hurt against conference foes. Needs to get fixed, but we might be a year away from doing that.

Montgomery had 20+ carries and averaged 4.7 ypc today. The OLine wasn't perfect, but for playing pretty vanilla on offense I'm not quite sure how the run game was so concerning. It certainly wasn't good against Iowa, I'm not going to try to argue that.
