so if OU, OSU go west, Texas and Kansas to ACC, then what about Tech, KState and Missouri? Does the Pac really make Kstate and Tech the 15th and 16th teams? Does the Big 10 save missouri from being the worst team in the SEC? The ISU/Baylor report bothers me that everyone else must know what they are doing...but Kstate OR Tech to the PAC on their OWN merits is really hard to believe academically or athletically!

With this shift TCU has to be really worried. Im still wondering what the Big 10 has in mind they are the 1 power conference that has been really quiet with in the last 2 weeks

The isu rumor doesn't make sense.....pollard hasn't leaked anything out, why would he leak out we are looking at the BE, after 2 of their biggest schools decide to leave....causing the BE future to look bleak too.

I would just wait patiently and I would guess we will all will be surprised in a good way.

I wonder if it was due diligence, if someone just took what happened last year and thru it out or if the Big east leaked it to try and stop a flood of teams looking for a new home out of that conference

If KU and UT join the ACC also, that would be a GREAT scenario for ISU because that would mean 3 BCS schools left that are in AAU (MU, ISU and Rutgers). If PAC 12 values academics and doesn't want TT or KSU by themselves, then we could possibly see PAC 12 and BIG 10 battle it out for ISU/MU.

Im interested in the fact that nothing has come out about the Big 10. Pitt and Syracuse were 2 of the schools thought by a bunch to be prime targets for the Big 10

Maybe the PAC will just go to 14. Texas leaves for ACC by themselves. Mizzou goes to the SEC. This leaves ISU, Baylor, KSU, KU, and TT. We add Louisville, Cincy, WV, USF, UCF, TCU, and Rutgers giving us 12. Then go up to UConn and tell them to **** off. That's not too bad of a conference.

East
USF
UCF
WV
Cincy
Louisville
Rutgers

West
TTU
TCU
Baylor
KU
KSU
ISU

obviously not top notch but it would be ok.

I think 14 is much more likely than 16. I think the Big 12 could consist of:

Iowa State
Kansas State
Baylor
Oklahoma State OR Kansas (whoever doesn't go with OU to Pac)
Texas Tech
Missouri OR West Virginia (whoever doesn't get into the SEC)
The best 6-8 schools that will accept (Big East teams, BYU, etc.)

I really think someone close to the Big East threw that out there to stop the bleeding...it wasn't on our side.

Look at it this way, last week the reports were that KU/KSU/Baylor were going to land in the Big East because the Big 12 was going to blow. Obviously that news appealed to the situation on a national perspective to make sure everyone that matters has a landing spot. It also seems like the Big East thought that that scenario would solidify their conference more than including ISU.

Now, since the tables have turned...they are throwing out our names because they think that if they had to be "aggressive" in expansion they could potentially "poach" ISU and Baylor (nationally recognized as the less desirable and therefore more easily attainable schools that would still fortify their conference).

Just a theory, of course, but I think it was a move to prey on our vulnerability. Hopefully OU realizes they need to keep this conference together for the sake of college football (and money, of course, because that is the real reason).

Remember ISU played and beat a Big East team so that maybe part of where the ISU part of to the Big East came from. Also those are the 2 main schools holding up A&M from jumping to the SEC.

It is still interesting if the BE blows up what will ND do.
Yes.
They could go to the A10 if they want their fball independence.

With Penn State going D1 in hockey the Big 10 now has enough teams to form their own conference. Notre Dame has also not declared what conference they will be in for hockey.

Yep. Although it may not be a popular opinion, but I think we may have been rejected by ND because they didn't want to fire the proverbial first shot that set off the devouring of the Big East. Similar to the PAC-12/SEC stalemate right now. I think ND may be in play (for everyone) if Pitt/Syracuse leave.

Also, if we are courting ND it is probably better for us if they keep losing. They'll want to join up if they can't get to a BCS game with their coveted independent schedule.

CBS reported at halftime the Big East has reached out to all Big 12 schools minus OU/OSU to gauge interest. Sounds like they probably leaked the AM info as well.
