Beale Street. Interstate BBQ. If coming from Iowa, spend a day or two in St Loius on the way or way back and a day r two less in Memphis. . Memphis really is a dump other than the party scene on Beale, but as others have noted be careful on where you go.

Bluel or biel street is fun. Good night life, blues music. Civil rights museum at the hotel where mlkwas shot. Maybe could check an nba game. Its warmer than Iowa. Just hang out in down town area and don't go to a creepy neighborhood. That or stay more in the burbs and go to city when looking for stuff to do.

The Memphis Zoo is one of only four zoos in the United States with giant pandas. We visited last spring, and I have to say that seeing pandas live in person is pretty ******* cool.

Put on your blue suede shoes.

Walk with your feet ten feet of of Beale.

See the ghost of Elvis on Union avenue.

Follow him up to the gates of Graceland then watch him walk right through.

Get stabbed, eat BBQ. You choose the order.

Oddly enough, for a lot of the gore in The Walking Dead, they use colored BBQ. So if you choose to eat bbq first, you can replicate that effect.

If you're into rock and roll, there's a Gibson guitar factory that's fairly close to the NBA arena downtown that gives tours. Pretty interesting.

Go to Graceland. Go to Civil Rights museum. Go to Beale Street. If I go, I'd like to leave on the 29th. Have the day of the 30th to do stuff, go to game on 31st and come home on the 1st. Easy, cheap trip.

We had a great time in NY last year, but this will be fun too.

As far as places to stay, there is this state park like 10-15 miles north of Memphis with cheap rates on cabins. I would go there, esp if ur scared of getting stabbed. . .
