This is Steve Prohm’s program. Period.

The only player in the program at this point that he did not bring in is Nick -- he was a "TJ recruit" when TJ was the de facto interim head coach for a few weeks after Fred left yet before we hired Prohm as a replacement. Even then, I think with 3.5 years in the program under his coaching, that Nick counts as a Prohm guy. This was all Prohm and his staff's doing this evening.

The "he could only win with Fred's players" charge is dead. That was a fair criticism up to this point, but I think we have seen that is no longer a reasonable assertion.

Steve is a better college coach than Fred. He recruits better he coaches them to play defense. That being said Fred started this thing and he does deserve a lot of credit
A couple things I think Fred was better at was timeouts and I loved Fred’s play calls after a timeout/dead ball.

Prohm has our guys moving the ball as good as I’ve seen any program, ever. He also has our guys playing D the ways I could only dream of under Fred’s tenure.

We are also seeing that CSP doesn’t take ****. He’s established he’s in charge. We needed that.

From NBC Sports:
"...
coach Steve Prohm has but together just about an ideal roster for the modern way that basketball is played.

Prohm can run out lineups where he has four players on the floor that are capable of being the handler in a ball-screen action while also being able to space the floor if someone else is the handler, and he can do it without sacrificing any of his defensive switchability.

This is what positionless basketball looks like, and we still haven’t seen their best...."

This season's still young but one could say that save for 2006-2010 ISU basketball has generally been fine for over 30 years.

Something I like is I don't think it's done in a way that's totally cutthroat or even 'my way or else'. I think it's all in the name of the betterment of the team and he helps as needed and eventually it's up to the player/kid to do the same, and from what I've seen it's worked with players that needed it.

I think it is also done for the betterment of the individual player. Remember how much it seemed like McKay hated him? Even when McKay turned things around that year, it never seemed like he really got it. But earlier this year, McKay had a very positive tweet about Prohm and it made a person think that he really got it.

Prom isn't only dealing with Cam because it will help the team. he's doing it to help Cam.

This team could potentially be better than any Hoiberg team or any of the past Prohm ones. Can’t wait to find out.

Long ways to go, different era, etc. but the last team to have this many players capable of hurting you from so many angles was 99-00.

Tuesday will be important in further establishing any notion of really good things.

I agree that Tuesday will be big to see if they can follow up this emotional win with another good effort on the road. Winning on the road in conference is key if we really want a chance to dethrone Kansas. The way this team plays together, has a focus on defense, and has quality depth, I think it’s very possible to challenge for the league crown.

Tuesday will definitely be interesting. On the road, against Baylor, and after a big win isn’t one we are used to seeing ISU pull off. We have enough guys competing for time though, I think they will bring it.

I am so torn.

The results so far and computer projections say winning the conference regular season is a reasonable goal for us -- and probably a few other teams in the conference, particularly Texas Tech. Kansas is not standing above anybody. They are sinking into the pack.

Yet...

Here comes Lucy with her football...

I know the second I start really thinking about it, then (1.) Self will reinvent and motivate the team somehow, (2.) they will hold serve at home, always, and (3.) some officiating shenanigans will go down in a key game that will make the difference.

The fact the rest of the conference is so good, and that TTU, ISU, OU, and UT, etc., are probably going to turn into a circular firing squad on each other, helps KU, too.

It has happened a dozen times.

Yet I so want to kick that football.
