This is Steve Prohm’s program. Period.

There's a few posters that are remarkedly absent.

They will be back Tuesday if ISU gets beat.

The Steve Buscemi character in Con Air could just as well be talking about those guys:

"He's a font of misplaced rage. Name your cliché; mother held him too much or not enough, last picked at kickball, late night sneaky uncle, whatever. Now he's so angry moments of levity actually cause him pain; gives him headaches. Happiness, for that gentleman, hurts."

Or maybe, they're El Quapo. (Don't actually think this relates, but this was on earlier and this scene should be watched by all).

We are not going to shoot 52% from 3 every game. That's where defense comes in. It can mitigate your cold streaks and it can create turnovers and transition points. Prohm knows that. Having 4 long-armed interchangeable defenders on the perimeter is nice. Having Solo, Lard, and now MJ defend the paint is also good. This team is really well constructed and trained. We have proven that we can lose any single player, and still be really good.

Completely agree that this is CSP's program, but you can't deny Fred left him in a good spot. He left him a team of All-Americans and extremely serviceable role players that were hungry. Who knows what things would look like if CSP had taken over the heaping pile of dog **** McDoormat left behind. Don't forget Fred changed the entirety of college basketball and this program may not be where we are today without him.

Johnny pretty much did the same thing for Tim Floyd with Fred, Michalik, and Loren Meyer.

I appreciate Fred's contribution to the program as a player and a coach, especially at that moment in time.

But people who still routinely linger over those accomplishments are missing out on a program that has kept moving forward. Winning in the Big 12 has never been easy, and as you mentioned, continued success is not always guaranteed.

Larry Eustachy and Marcus Fizer say hi.

ISU's been decent for over 30 years with a few bumps and with a solid situation will continue to do so.

How often has KU committed 24 turnovers? Even more impressive is that we beat KU by 17 and 2 of last year's starters came off the bench for a combined 26 minutes and 12 points.

I was going to school during that magical 99-00 Elite 8 team so I have a pretty high bar for what "great" is at ISU after witnessing that team dominate. That team is still my benchmark for the best team at ISU. This year's team hasn't even hit it's peak yet trying to integrate Wigginton and Lard back into the rotation but I love the chemistry this team has and how unselfish they play. I really love how they get after it on defense too. Haliburton and THT lead the team in steals per game at 2.2 and 1.5 and I just love their instincts to get into passing lanes which is impressive to be that good at it as freshmen.

I think Prohm is proving to be just as good of a hire as Campbell has been for FB and both of these coaches are building programs that will be attractive to recruits and can sustain a winning culture. It's too early in the season to get ahead of ourselves but if this team can find a way to snap the Kansas stranglehold on the regular season conference title Prohm is going to be in demand for any high profile jobs that open up.

The Bulls will take him. It's what they do.
