I like the optimism as it's better than some of the doom and gloom here. We need everything to play out just right and some help to make the Big 12 Championship as it seems like OU vs Texas is destined unless the rest of the conference muddies things up. We need to win the games we should and make that late game against Texas mean something. I've been saying I hope it's like our last home game last year and its cold and snow on the ground as I would love nothing more than to hand Texas a loss in Jack Trice Stadium under the lights in a meaningful late season game on their way out of the Big 12. Oklahoma and Texas have avoided Ames in November way too many years so playing in front of a packed house in the freezing cold with a trip to the Big 12 championship on the line would be my ideal scenario.
if Kansas could beat OU that would be glorious

Actually we own our destiny. We don’t need help as we win out we are in the Championship game.

Big 12 non-con play was terrible....obviously part of the reason why the conference is down right now

It was. The crazy thing is the conference entire 14 teams still ranks out better than almost every division in computer rankings even with subpar non conf, it’s 4th-5th as a single division instead of the usual 2nd-3rd.

Conference is about where media spin always puts it anyway.

Obviously next year is a totally new ballgame but a team like Arizona is actually grading out higher than expected. The 4 Pac schools should be a subtle fb boost even if asu stays down. Bigger question will be which and how many of this year’s four improve.

I honestly don’t even care to think about it yet. If by the grace of god we get Texas at home with each having 1 loss in the conference I will start to think about it. And how insane would that game be!
And 20 degree weather would suit me just fine. Oh, and cut the electricity on their side so there are no heaters.

Best scenario would be to best Texas and then OU in the championship game to get both on the way out. A guy can dream.

The possibility is still out there. Honestly, we could lose one of the next three, and as long as we beat Texas, we would go to Manhattan with probably a “win and you’re in” situation. Any Big 12 title game dreams probably have to include beating Texas at Jack Trice.

If there’s one of the next three I definitely don’t want to lose, it’s the Kansas game. Assuming a hypothetical upset of Texas, Kansas is the only one of our next three opponents where owning the tiebreaker over them might come into play. BYU is probably second most important of the next three if we’re comparing records against teams from the top to the bottom of the standings.

If we the next three and then upset Texas, the K-State game might not even matter as far as getting to the conference championship game goes.

It’s fun to think about, but as in past seasons, we’ve got to take it one game at a time. Each week changes the picture somewhat.

If I were on the team, I'd ask myself this question

Can we beat our remaining opponents if they gave us their best shot? If that answer is anything but YES, then we really aren't ready for the big stage just yet.

Example: our 2020 team. And our 2021 team for that matter.

Did we win every time? Nope. But we weren't hoping for the stars to align either. Say what you want (as a fan) but as a player, I would never want to face some team and hope they play like **** just so we can tack on another win.

Just be better. The results will take care of themselves.

I would love to see an electric night game against Texa$..... but let's be honest, when was the last time the Jack was packed in late November? The Iowa game in 2001?

Was it packed in 2019? That was a mid-late November game vs. Texas.

Any team can have a get right game or play really out of the blue but Tech just trashed them and yes they came back and beat UCF but that was more about UCF just absolutely self-destructing. Because in the end, Baylor was still down 35-7 in the third quarter. I hope if we get them in a hole early we don’t take the foot off the gas.

There have been plenty of times Baylor never let up though the worst of them were preCampbell.

We control our own destiny. If we win every game we have 1 loss and one of those wins would be over UT which would then have 2 losses. But if you mean everything has to go right, meaning that we need a lot of luck to win every game, you are right. Maybe we are due for that TCU kind of season.
I think technically if we win out and Oklahoma state win out, there would be a three way tie between us, OSU, and OU, and there are tiebreaker scenarios where we would get left out; but this is incredibly unlikely.

I would love to see that game against Texas... SRO. I just question if the season ticket holders will get off their warm couches and actually show up instead of eating the ticket and staying home. I will be there regardless of weather. Hoping everyone will be there, too! Plus it would be a nice send off for the seniors.

It's possible. That's plenty good enough.
If it happens, it's an amazing ride. If not, it's no big deal.

Kinda surprised someone didn't jump on this and tell you that you must not be successful in life for accepting reasonable outcomes of a sports team.
