Wow...talk about an afternoon time suck.

That was fun and entertaining to look back at all that stuff, honestly. Not surprisingly most of my first posts (started in October of '06) revolved around ISU basketball. That was McDermott's first season back then, and I must admit I got a lot of grim amusement reading back then about how excited and hopeful we all were at the time.

My, how things changed.

Nobody is/has been subsidizing you? What was that $1.6 million coming from Iowa taxpayers' pockets then? The University is a partial owner of the Big Ten Network, therefore it's only logical that they should get a cut of the profits. ISU fans DO have a choice in the matter. While going without cable would suck, they CAN choose to go without it if they take such offense to "subsidizing" the U of I. Iowa fans can't just stop paying their taxes.

Now that I have that part out of the way (I don't want to rub things in, but Pollard's subsidy malarkey really gets under my skin), I don't take glee in ISU's position, and neither do most Iowa fans that I know. The vast majority of those getting kicks make up the very vocal minority. CycloneNation has its contingent of counterparts, don't try denying it. Every school in the country has a small group of trolls when it comes to rivals. There's no need to lash out at them, because they aren't going anywhere, and they aren't worth getting worked up over.

Blaming Iowa is not going to get you anywhere. Blaming anyone isn't really all that productive, but especially when you're blaming the wrong people. If you want to look for who to blame, look no further than Austin, Texas. THEY are the ones who created the dissension in the Big 12 by hoarding the money and the power. If leaving for the Big Ten were suicide for Nebraska, the Husker may have pulled the trigger, but Texas gave them the gun.

Again, I take no fun from all this. I usually root for ISU when they aren't playing the Hawks. But Pollard's attitude, which seems to be echoed at least by a very vocal minority (I won't presume that it's a majority, but it does seem like it. And given your position, it's understandable that people who are normally level-headed might lose it a little), does not endear itself to people outside of Cyclone Nation. It comes across as petty, and typefies the "Little Brother" persona. Hell, more Iowa fans are making fun of Pollard's attitude rather than the overall situation, and I can't say I blame them for that.

Can't remember my first post on this board and probably don't want to. You go through a maturing process as a poster, you know.

My first post on a Cyclone fan site, I waltzed in as a lot of newcomers do, thinking *I* knew all and how dare these Cyclone fans here think they are bigger Cyclone fans than *me* and I got real pissy and spewed a lot of misinformation and, in general, humiliated myself.

I'm still prone to the occasional slip (reference my epic fail wrestling thread that I wish I could personally hug every ISU wrestling fan for creating) and apparently according to CyCrazy all of my posts are mind-numbing, but you live and hopefully learn.

11/29/2006. Trying to get people to buy extra season tickets because we had a number of big time teams comming to play. However I have been a member since 2004 or 2005. My original name was Cycloneandy. I got banned and told I knew nothing. Thought I was being clever at the time when I came up with knownothing for my screen name. Thought I would get banned again by now but nope. Still known as knownothing. haha

I saw an Audi at Jordan Creek Mall yesterday with a Husker frame around the license plate. I was very close to keying it and putting a brick through the window.
