Ticket prices to increase, parking and donation levels to change

Since $4 million was mentioned at one point in the letter, I played around with that, just for an inaccurate eyeball estimate.

Assuming 40k season tickets for football going up $50 each, that's $2 million.
I assumed 14k for MBB at $50 over the 2 years. That got $700k, for a total of $2.7 million between the two.

Just base on my ridiculous setup, I'm guessing that prices are going way up, unless they're counting on the new SEZ club section to offset a lot of that.

I have been preparing for my endzone seats (which are a steal at $160 or so per season) to go up. $50 a piece is awful reasonable for my pair of seats, I was assuming they would jump to the $225 price point. My hope is that we can stay in G6 for our $500.

I know the results have been rough for a few years but I still really enjoy the games and its a chance/excuse for my family to come from Omaha several times in the fall to meet with my parents from Mason City and my wife's from Algona area and have a good time together.

Maybe I'm just the type of sappy sucker they are preying on with these increases but the ~$1000 we throw down is worth that much to me.

I assume that's with a donation and not just ticket costs? Because people are paying more than that for balcony seats in Hilton....$1000 or $500 donation + season ticket price.
No, that's just the ticket price. Add in $20 per game for a parking pass to the season ticket holder parking lot. I don't know how much we donate total for our group. Three families that go in on our 3 tickets.

I could have easily sold my upper deck end tickets for 75 bucks a piece on many occasions last year. There needs to be something done to make the face value come closer to the market value.

I also think we should be charging $50 for a parking pass. (for basketball)

We cant afford to miss out on revenue when its available.

Also, I hope they really start putting a little increase in the girls basketball program.

Twocoach, I'm interested in what the yearly donation is for your seat's in Allen Fieldhouse. What type of donation is required for seats between the baselines?
No idea. We do a point system where 1) you buy tickets in either Tier 1. Tier 2 or Tier 3 and then pick your seats based on the total number of points you have. I don't know if there is a designated minimum donation or not. We aren't going to pay the extra $300 per ticket to move from Tier 3 to Tier 2 until we have enough points built up to move over a little further. If we are going to pay that much more I want the tickets to be much better than just two one section over and a few rows down. Factor in that I have to pay for gas to drive to games from Omaha to Lawrence and back and it adds up.

Is that what the #s are behind the 2, 4, and 6?

That would make sense to me. I assume that the points are a combination of donations and years of purchasing.

Right, but he said his were tip, top corner.

And my point is corner balcony seats are still a bargain at $200 if you don't have to donate.

He's right. The tiers for KU tickets last year were $1600, $1225, and $925.

Since revkah and I went to the game in Lawrence, we've ended up with e-mails for KU everything. They apparently have an infinite # of lists to be removed from.

I agree with you. I think a ticket increase is in order for men's basketball based on our recent success. Gotta strike while the iron is hot.

I just pointed out that some people are paying pretty big money to be in the balcony.

Yes, those are the minimum number of points you need to purchase that number of seats in those sections. You get points from a bunch of different activities; buying tickets to MBB and other sports, donations, alumni association membership, etc...

I don't know. I'm guessing they'll keep some cheap seats available. But they'll probably be in the $200 range.

I'm awfully curious as to what the donation level for my seats will end up being. I'm in the balcony along the side in row 3. We give $500, but we got those seats through the under 30 discount for several years and moved up quite a bit during the down Morgan and McDermott eras. I think the people around us are more in the $1000 range.

I bet they go up a lot. I am gold, and I cannot get anything but corner seats. But we have only had tickets since Fred became coach.

I think you need to speak with the ticket office directly, because I know the top 3 rows in Section 232 and 233 did not sell out for season tickets last year. I have been giving since 2003 and we currently sit at the gold level although we donate $1400 a year. We are at center court, Row 5 of the Upper Deck. I just don't know if people are willing to pay $2500 a year for those seats.
