Time for Fred to get tossed

LOL..not having seen that has nothing to do with whether the officiating was ok or not. There is no set rule that each team should be called for "x" number of fouls. You have to drive to the bucket and create body contact to get fouled. ISU does not do that. End result...very few fouls and trips to the line.

No impartial observer would have watched that game and thought ISU was getting screwed by the refs. We simply didn't create situations for our team that lead to getting fouled. Easy as that.

Simmer down, it's OK for fans to be upset about the refs even if you don't think it is justified.

I have a hard time believing that we were't fouled on a shot for most of the game. That seems odd and unusual. But I defer to you all high and mighty one.

Excuse me I think Paul Rhoads has some damn pride. There were several times this year where I was astonished to see that he didn't AT LEAST get an unsportsmanlike. He has thrown his hat and his headset on the field and has yelled at the ref while being on the field during a play. I love every bit of it and to see that kind of passion makes me keep on believing and makes me proud to be a cyclONE. I do wish that Freddy had a little fire in him too but o well. It's early anyway maybe later down the road he'll start showing it.

Fred as a rookie head coach, going all Pelini on guys isn't going to do much for Iowa State. In fact, it will probably hurt more than help. Once you build a good relationship, then you get the right to get a little upset when necessary

He's actually surprised me with how much he's argued with them. I expect that in a couple of years, he'll be a lot more like Johnny then like MOrgan in that respect.

Agree. He was barking at the refs at every timeout tonight. He would walk straight to the official before talking to any of his coaches or players and give them an earful. He was poised yet demonstrative.

All we have to do is watch the game, cheer and trust that the coaches know what they're doing. Just because you like a fiery coach doesn't mean that only fiery coaches can be effective. Just because a person likes smashmouth football doesn't mean that Herman's spread won't work. Just chill out, let the coaches coach, and do your best to battle through the tough years.

Because they had a coach in junior high who took things too seriously and screamed at everybody and was a general *** hat in most people's opinion. But they get nostalgic and remember the guy as a "maker of men" and how "they'd run through a brick wall" for that guy and that's just how all coaches should be.

To the fans, it looks like the coach actually cares whats going on and doesn't seem lackadaisical or indifferent on what is going on in the game.....at least to me, rather than the coach standing there like a certain previous coach, who wouldn't even get mad if the ref slept with his wife in his bed, and ran off with her and stole his car....thats a figure of speech....

Take what? Officiating was fine. The disparity in fouls is because we have ZERO inside game and shoot outside shot after outside shot.

We lost to a much better team. Simple as that.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a basketball guy, but I'm starting to catch on.

At half time, they showed a graphic where ISU's and Texas' stats were very similar; something like one team shooting 12/30 from the field, the other 12/31. ISU had significantly more points in the paint, but had 0 free throw attempts, whereas Texas had made 9, which was the difference at the half. I might be wrong, but that says to me we were playing pretty well close to the bucket (which is what I assume is meant by "inside"), but we weren't drawing fouls. Whether Texas was playing clean or the refs were looking the other way is another question.

We lost stopped playing close during the first half when we started trying to shoot the 3 when it seemed to me that the inside game was more effective and safer. I don't know who to blame for that, but my perspective is that we could have done a better job with a different strategy.

For the 1000th time, he was pretty damn worked up on Saturday. He was jumping around out there like a lunatic and went and talked to the refs most timeouts. He can only get a T if the ref gives him one.

Well according to someone at the game, Fred did get pretty worked up last night. I know we all think we know what is going on from our TV screens, but they don't have a camera on our coach 100% of the time, so we obviously miss some **** and there are the things known as commericals that cause the camera to be off our coach too.

okay, first off the refs were not the reason we lost. Now that is out of the way and with that said, the officiating was freaking TERRIBLE!!!! That little touch foul on the Texas 3 pointer was week. Bubu shot a mid range jumper that he was hacked on big time and no call. DG was getting hand checked like crazy, he kept slapping the defenders hand off his body. Texas was getting away with a ton of pushoffs on the blocks in the rebound battles. Godfrey got hammered on a missed dunk. Anderson was fouled on at least 5 drives to the basket and never got a call until the last couple of minutes. Let me repeat that. Anderson was fouled several times. I rewatched his drives to the hoop, they should/could have called a foul every freaking time. On one play under the Texas basket, their big white guy push Godfrey out of bounds for a rebound put back. The game was extremely one sided. How anyone can't see that I don't know. Again, Texas had enough firepower out there to put us away, but the game was not called fair, it is that simple. When one team can do things physically the other can't without getting a foul called, it is one sided.
