Tinsley or Morris

Tinsley had to be a little unselfish his senior year. He won that confernce title in 2001. Nothing against Holloway, but his offensive skill set was a little bit, umm... limited, but Tinsley accounted for almost 26 points a game over his career.

Tinsley would eat all of Holloway's cookies.

Wow, I read what you quoted. Now I realize what a smart decision it was to place pourcyne on ignore. He thinks Holloway is a better point guard than Tinsley? The guy is certifiably ******* insane.

Tinsley or Morris for Hoiball? Morris.

Tinsley or Morris for basketball in general? Tinsley.
Nah, I'd rather have Tinsley even for Hoiball. That would be such a fun offense to watch.

Nothing against Monte because he's one of the best PG's in the country right now, but Tinsley was an NBA player/street baller playing in the Big 12.

Which one holds a NCAA record? :jimlad:

Who led us to two Big XII regular season titles, one Big XII Tournament title, an Elite Eight berth, and was an All American, Big XII Player of the Year, NBA All Rookie 2nd Team, and played in the NBA for 12 years? Not even close at this point. Check back at the end of the season this year or next year.

NBA isn't part of this discussion. Morris has potential for All American and Big 12 POY awards. The Elite 8 run may be neutralized by losing as a 2 seed when it was truly his team.

I still think Tinsley is better ATM, but Morris is closing the gap faster than I expected when this conversation started in December. It could be Morris by the end of this season.

If your argument is based on one game it will fail. Totally ridiculous.

This thread again, smh. We all love Monte and he is great for this team, but people must not be remembering Tinsley accurately if this is even a debate right now. Tinsley was dominate.

Tinsley and Morris are two drastically different players even though they both play PG. Monte is the calm, collected, efficient game manager. Tinsley was the reckless baller that put up points.

Would be awesome to have Monte and Tinsley on the court at the same time, similar to Kane and Monte last year. I think we'd be unstoppable if you could add Tinsley's ability to drive the lane to this team.

I never watched Tinsley play but he seems like a scoring first PG who was mad dribbling skills. MM runs the show, makes smart passes and takes good shots.

In Hoiball i'm going with Monte.
In any other system I'll take Tinsley.

Tinsley was not so hot shooting the three. Monte can pass him in that aspect.

The only way to truly compare these two is after their careers are over (at whatever level they rise to). The styles are so totally different...

Tinsley was a blast to watch - Curly Neal dribbling skills, quick to the basket, excellent shooter - flashy streetballer.
Monte is incredible in his decision-making capabilities, his court vision, and his ball control. Not particularly flashy, but virtually error-free. And he's only halfway through his sophomore year!

I love them both. :)

I agree with most posters on here, you just cannot make a case after a year and a half of Monte. But the fact that people are talking about who is better, now, speaks volumes of the type of player he is and the type of player he could be!

That being said, and all the Tinsley highlights being thrown around. My favorite moves MONTE has ever pulled was in the game against NC Central last year in the tourney. The long one-handed bounce pass from about half a court away to Melvin for the lay-in, and the double touch dirty crossover he did on the baseline for a layup. If anyone could find those/put them in a gif that would be awesome.

I'm sorry, I LOVE Monte, but Tinsley was a Freak. Litterally the best ball handler I've ever seen at any level. In addition he took a team with not much talent around him in 2001 and won the BIG XII (Our other best players were Horton, Shirley, Rancik, and a Freshman version of Jake Sullivan). Plus...he NEVER lost to KU or at Hilton.

Tinsley was the best college basketball player I've ever watched play in person. He made people look stupid.

I mean..seriously...I'm sure you've seen this:
