This. A lot of you guys sound like hawkeyes. I can't believe we would bring a player in with this kind of a background. Honor before Victory!

So in your opinion he's beyond help? You think that CPR couldn't possibly keep him straight, get him an ISU degree and improve his future? Make a man out of him?

Well you remember the bolded part when we are sitting home watching bowls games next year and the years after. I will take kids with backgrounds as long as they help us win and STAY CLEAN WHILE AT ISU.

I'm not sayin CPR can't I just don't have a good feeling about this kid. More times than not kids with the background continue on the same course. If he is a committ I'm hoping that he can stay clean. Im just a guy high on character. You can crucify me all you want but I was not happy with the way CPR handled a couple of situations.

You all criticize Iowa for all that has happened yet we all are chomping at the bit for a guy that screwed an 8th grader in his Senior year and then let his brother rob the girls home. I take pride in knowing that we do things the right way and I'm not comfortable knowing that someone with that kind of background could ruin it.

Reads: I enjoy losing.

So many of you are so quick to dismiss a person for a possible indescretion that you know absolutely nothing about. No one is perfect, including yourselves. Hypocrits.

Was he a member of the ISU football team at that point?

These players look to be instant athlete upgrades at ISU. Yet there has to be a certain level of buyer beware from the fans here. These sound like the same talented and troubled players that Dan McCarney recruited. The problem with that was you ended up with guys like Jerry Gair and Tyease Thompson, who couldn't overcome their past. It works sometimes and doesn't others.

That being said, if they committed I think that means Grady is in the bag. He is very close to Hutcherson in particular. And we are at the point in our program were we do not turn away potential stars like this. We need talent, and all three have it.

BTW, does anyone know the rules on official visits? How may people can a recruit bring with him? It would be interesting to know if it has to be a family member as well. Like I said, these kids are close, and if he could it wouldn't surprise me if an unofficial visitor with one of these last names comes with.

No I don't enjoy losing. I simply believe there is a right way to win and a right way to build your program. If you want a guy with that background coming to ISU than that's fine. I'm not passing judgement on him. The fact is I have never met him and wont know what he is like, but when you make a poor decision like he has its hard to not stop and think do we really want a kid with this history (note I said history not character) to come to ISU.

Again was he a member of the ISU football team when he did this?

Go ahead and be unhappy. I'm sure Paul doesn't care. You know which teams always harp the "Honor and Morals" meme? Teams that lose. No winning team talks about that.

The people who criticize Iowa are the ones trying to somehow validate ISU in comparison with them. Somehow, there has been a perception that the history of ISU is that of complete cleanliness and we have never had trouble before and have never brought in questionable kids before. That's simply not the case.

Do you know for a fact she was an 8th grader? I bet you don't. Besides that, since he was never put on the sex offender list and never charged with rape or anything else, evidence is pretty thin that he forced the issue.

Not at all. It's just not a perfect world; we have to take some chances and hope for the best sometimes. Trust me, I wish we could play five Fred Hoiberg's in BB every year and twenty-two Ellis Hobbs's in FB every year.

I am pretty sure they have to be a family member, possibly even gaurdian. There's no reason the others couldn't take officials as well though. Or unofficials, whichever.

Yeah, because good kids who are Seniors in HS never go out with Freshmen.:jimlad:

I like how people are pretending this is the issue. Nobody cares if a senior is sleeping with a freshman. It might be a little skeevy, but nothing that should haunt a guy.

But that isn't the issue.

The issue is that he robbed the house of 17k, then used a gun that was stolen in that robbery to commit armed robbery.

Yes, if you stop reading at the "he slept with a 14 year old", I agree, it isn't an issue. But that's only if you stop reading at that point.

I don't care if some kid gets caught smoking pot, or drinking underage, or stuff like that. I care, but believe in second chances, for stuff like what Sim's did. This is far beyond that though.

So what do you think about Royce White? I presume he shouldn't be on the team. I would also assume you are of the opinion David Sims should not have played this year.

If you want ISU to get to a point where it can compete for the top of this conference then you have to understand that ISU is going to need to take some risks.

Sometimes those risks will pay-off and sometimes they will not, but if you are never willing to give others a second chance, does that reflect more negatively on you or the person you are judging?

It's not that I'm unhappy because I'm pumped to see us in contention for recruits with this kind of talent. No I don't know that she was in 8th grade but I do know she was 14. Either way there's no way in hell you can say that this is ethically ok for him to do.

I agree with your statement but where do you draw the line? Also thank you for not attacking me. I really appreciate. Its like talking to a bunch of immature children with all of the personal attacks. Especially when our new recruiting analyst has to do this.
