Ok. Lets get off the sex offender bit and worry about the fact that these two are supposedly considering us. If they were going to enroll at semester, would they not have to have done so. Class starts next week, right? Also, would that not mean an official release. I noticed Chris Williams has not chimed in here. I think the news of their coming, especially early, may just be that.

I'll disagree there. When you're in HS, it's free game. You see SR/FR hook ups all the time. What ISN'T ethically OK is to have your brothers rob the house while you keep the girl occupied. And then the armed robbery. Still, we don't know what role Hadley played in the whole thing (did he plan or even know about the house robbery? how involved was he with the armed robbery?). Obviously, the judge didn't come down on him too hard since he just got probation.

What matters is that he straightened out and turned himself around at Butler. If CPR judges his character to be OK, I'm all for it. Sure, you'd rather not bring in kids with histories like this, but if we're losing recruits to UCF and commits to KU, obviously ISU needs to take a few risks to get the talent in here necessary to win with.
I could be wrong here but the house robbery and the armed robbery are the same thing. One instance. They broke into the house and robbed jewelry, money and a shotgun. As soon as they came into possession of the shotgun, the whole incident became the armed robbery because they were armed with the shotgun. No where have I seen it reported that they robbed the house and then used the gun to rob someone else. I am not sure why people are claiming two incidents.

Exactly, people are preaching to the choir about the girl. Nobody gives a crap about that.

It's the whole stealing of 17k worth of stuff, including a firearm, while he kept her occupied that bothers me.

Second chances are great, and I would have zero issue with this guy enrolling and being a student at Iowa State. However, as a student-athlete he also represents the university in the public eye. If he does sign with us I hope he does keep on the straight and narrow, but I just see the potential downsides being much more than the potention upsides.
I don't see the downsides being as bad as you do. If the guy so much as gets in a fight or gets a DUI, he goes to jail because he will be on probation until after he graduates. JP and CPR don't even have to make a decision to suspend him or discipline him, he would be driven to Florida and will sit in jail. The kid knows that.

you don't htink this discussion will go on at evrry school that is recruiting them? If you don't you are being naive. Besides there is nothing on here that would scare a recruit away. Hadley made a big mistake and he will have to deal with it for at least the next 3 years on his record. He knows that and if he doesn't expect it than he isn't very smart.

And I am okay with him coming here if the staff feels like it is okay

Here's a great story about Caron Butler and the second chance he recieved:

The Great Escape - washingtonpost.com

It seemed appropriate for this thread.

Man...why do you have to bring reason and understanding into the conversation!

Aren't you hearing what the people are saying! If you mess up in high school you should be done for life. Life I tell you. According to many of the posters on here, this kid is doomed to a life of crime. There is no way that he could've possibly changed and there is no way that he could come to Iowa State and straighten out his life.

By the way Great article. And for all of you who don't think that this kid should get a second chance, look at Ted Williams (the voice guy). People can change. You didn't see the city of Cleveland up in arms because the guy used to be addicted to drugs and was homeless. No they gave him a second chance.

I just want to know if these kids are legitimately coming to ISU. If so, this will finish up our recruiting in the secondary IMO. This means that JJ Gaines must have given us the cold shoulder, which stinks.

There has been no news on Gaines for quite some time. This could mean several things. Maybe he just does not want to talk to anyone about his decision but I since he has already done that I think something else is up. Maybe he ran into grade problems and everyone moved on. Just doubt he went from telling people he has ISU and several others high on his list to not being interested in any of those schools.

And as I say that Gaines gives his commitment to Texas Tech. Maybe he did give us a cold shoulder but sure seemed quite until I decided to chime in!

They were his favorite for most of the fall. He was supposed to visit when we played them but he didn't. That's when my hope dwindled. That's the second time Tuberville has done that to us and he has tried more than that.
