Serious question: what kind of donor money would make a big difference for wrestling? 100k? 500k? 1 million? 5 million? Obviously more is better, but where would it start to make a big impact?

let's just say Cornell University's wrestling building was about $3.5 million and Penn State's was about $4 million.

those schools got brand new, stand alone buildings

The biggest short term thing would probably be bringing in more senior level guys to be part of the CWC to give us more elite workout partners. That would be on the lower end of that scale. As isuska pointed out, new facilities would cost millions. But our recent upgrade was enough to at least make our facilities competitive with the schools we recruit against.

Watching the Minnesota vs Penn State dual, which was awesome.

I notice a lot of the wrestlers sitting on chairs watching teammates wrestling, esp after they got done. Ruth went and got on a bike by the mat and rode it while watch his teammates. I wish our team would have seats so they could support their team. I don't like them all being hid in the back the whole meet.

Yeah, I am not necessarily thinking stand alone facilities, but other things. If we are in the 5 mil+ range, I suppose a new building would be possible.

I think KJ would tell you they have everything necessary to build a national title team. Weight room, lounge, new locker rooms, and a big wrestling room. They also have video recording in the room.

Hey buff is there a video out there showcasing the new renovations for the wrestling program? Showing hte room and lounge? I thought there was but for some reason cant seem to find it anymore or maybe I was mistaken.

I'm with getting more elite level athletes in the room, but that cost money and a good amount of money. Heck Nebraska is in heaven right now with JB in their room working with guys. It would be nice to get some lower weight elite guys and bring back Reader.

The CWC elite wrestlers goes both ways. The elite wrestlers want somebody to train freestyle with and get better, so we have to have wrestlers in the room of that caliber.

Your mind plays an important role in your victory

I think this is an excellent quote. I believe that Michael Moreno decided with 90 seconds left in his match against Cooper Moore that he wasn't going to lose that match and he went to a different level. I think he did the same thing at Nationals last year.

I believe Tanner Weatherman has had this attitude in many of his matches.

I also think that is why we lose some close matches.

So where are your seats for your season tickets to Iowa State wrestling? You never did EVER answer that.

Yes. Let's make this about something else other than institutional support for wrestling a UNI versus Iowa. Brilliant.

I see Judoka continues to ignore this thread. Seriously, how difficult can it be to simply say "I was wrong...my bad"?

Odd behavior.

Is that literally all you have to do, wait around for him to post something?

He posted where he pulled the information from. If you don't like that, then that is fine. But don't continue to be annoying and antagonistic.

Not quite. He also took a shot a me once again. The facts do not fit HIS narrative and he's failed to own up to it. Not only was the shot uncalled for, he was wrong. He included salaries for UNI, did not include them for ISU and claimed UNI spent more on wrestling which they don't by a wide margin.

I would not respond either. Info is listed differently by different universities. Just like the income for the 2 universities does not add up. Do not know what it is, but?

Judoka provides a lot of info in these threads, so if he decides not to respond, it is his right

It isn't confusing at all that ISU pays their coaches significantly more than UNI does or that ISU pays a full time administrative assistant and UNI does not. That is completely verifiable.

He's the one who initially made the claim that UNI spends more on wrestling than ISU and bashed those who disagreed with him. Now that claim has been challenged and he's gone quiet. A stand up guy doesn't play that way.

He adds a lot to the board but that doesn't give him license to be a flamer.

Anybody want to reminisce? Interesting how quiet things get when things are going pretty good.
