My apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but what is the likelihood that Dendy will play? Team seems much better when he is available.

The crowd could really make the difference. Plenty of tickets remain -- there is no bad seat in Hilton. If you are a season ticket holder and can't go; give your tickets to someone who can. If you are able to go and don't have a ticket -- please buy one. Go Cyclones!

Offensively, here are some things to watch for if the game is close in the 2nd half:

Does ISU push tempo, or do they revert to the slow down game?

Does ISU attack the hoop, or settle for jump shots (particularly Brackins and the fade-away shot)?

Are 2-3 guys crashing the offensive boards, or just turning and running after the shot goes up?

Basically, this comes down to playing aggressively or passively under adversity. If ISU has the talented athletes as reported here in the forum, they should be playing aggressively against UNI.

I went to the games in Chicago and sat right by where the teams came in and out.

Brackins looked way beyond frustrated and more like ****** after the game. Several of the other guys did as well. To me, that is a good sign for Wednesday night.

Not saying that UNI is not good but we did beat them at UNI last year with a team that was not even as close to as good as the one we have this year. That, the home court, and a bad attitude could spell trouble for the Panthers.

Excellent questions to keep in mind Wednesday evening...

I really saw two glaring negatives against Northwestern. One, Brackins could not get anything to fall. Everything was a bad bounce this way or that.

Second, Vander Beeken was obviously winded in the last five minutes of the game and against a quick cutting team like Northwestern it hurt us tremendously. That pass to the center and hand off the PG for the easy hoop was the straw that broke the camel's back. Vander Beeken didn't even move to try and fould the guy, he just let him go by.

Both of those issues are correctable. Especially with Vander Beeken and how deep our bench could be.

Not that we won't have issues with UNI but I don't see that game shaping up anything like Northwestern.

A camera closeup of JVB showed him huffing and puffing. Maybe we needed a timeout. CB has a habit of forcing the 4 foot shot with two defenders parked under the basket. This happened the last two years. Gilchrist did the same thing multiple times. I also was surprised that it was not passed outside to one of the open shooters. Four times in a row we went to the well only to end up dry. Lucca was forgottten on those occasions..

UNI is an NCAA tournament team that is returning every starter. ISU hasn't come close to being invited to the dance for several years. And during those last several years, UNI has shown us that they know how to come into Hilton and leave with a victory.

The overconfidence of some of our fans amazes me.

Having said that, I still like our chances given the talented group of athletes we have on this year's squad. While the close loss to NW was a very tough pill to swallow, an early season slap in face could be a very healthy thing. I think it will really help us focus for the UNI game.

Following that theme, we beat them at their place last year in OT, and added Gilstrap, Christopherson and hopefully Dendy.

I'm not overconfident, but neither am I losing any sleep.

I think we win comfortably

UNI has no answer for Brackins and Gilstrap.

I didn't think NW did, either. That having been said, I have a feeling Brackins is going to take this game over based on his comments after the NW game. He has the talent to do it. I think he has the attitude to go with it in this game. I want this to be a 12 point game in ISU's favor...minimum.

except.... GMac said Craig is coming down with something. So if he is not feeling well, I doubt he dominates. Gilstrap is already sick. With UNI and Cal looming this week, we need better luck, we need Gilstrap, Brackins, and Dendy ready to go at full strength.

Tournament team or not, they're coming to Hilton and I expect an ISU win. A loss to the Panthers would be a huge blow to the pysche of this team and fan moral. That said, I think our boys come out fired up and take UNI out of the game early. ISU by a comfortable 13.

Egleseder and Ahelegbe will cause problem and UNI's defense sets will keep us from scoring 80+ but Iowa State will win, too much athleticism. Both teams know each other and styles very well. Expect a chess match but Iowa State will definitely not need overtime like last year.

I think we win by 10. I knew Northwestern would be tough. I think UNI is tough also, but I think coming back to Hilton will really help this team forget about the 2nd day in Chicago.
