Thats interesting. One school on that last went the S16 last year and was ranked in the top 15, and one school played for a national title last year and was ranked in the top 5.

Yet, neither of those schools were B12 or B10 schools...

Ironically enough, I have to wonder if Doug McD following his dad to Creighton has helped UNI out in the recruiting process. Do they play the same position?

I would settle for you to stop spreading myths.

I said I was incorrect, my bad.

Because it would be completely inconceivable that someone would pick a program that's been to 5 NCAA tournaments in the past 7 years over one that has been in total disarray for the better part of a decade...

Adam Koch chose UNI over West Virginia, Washington State, and Northwestern.

Don't get all excited panthers, the simple fact is when recruits choose between ISU and UNI they choose ISU almost every single time. Doesn't mean UNI is a bad basketball program.

C'mon guys. Do you really think Wayne Morgan would recruit a huge, plodding center to play his "up-tempo" style?

Sincerely,

Come on 06, none of those schools have the pedigree of Iowa State...

Hey BCPanther and 06Panther - you are right you guys have been good in men's basketball, and we have been crappy - thanks to your man McDermott. My point is that our problem has not been recruiting, it has been coaching! We can get top players in the midwest, we just need to find someone who can build a relationship with them and coach them. Mac could not do either!

It is sad that you guys have to go to an ISU site to talk about your successful basketball program. The rest of the Panther fans are probably on the Hawkeye boards.

Don't be that guy.

Maybe we should actually field a better team than UNI once out of every five years before we talk smack.

2-3 the past 5 meetings.
Orr, Floyd, LE, Morgan all had winning records vs UNI. I think this off-season will go a long ways in reverting the on-court performance back to normal.

Turning down an offer from UVa and NW in favor of a UNI type...hmm.

Those coaches were facing terrible UNI teams from the 80's and 90's.

UNI's recent success over ISU has much more to do with UNI being drastically better than we used to be, rather than ISU being being down.

This is patently untrue. Pure and simple fiction.

How so?

How many NCAA appearances did UNI have from 1985-2003? ONE.

And from '03-'10, we have had five appearances.

Its not as if UNI is just beating terrible Iowa State teams. UNI is just a completely different program than it was 10-20 years ago. Its not as if we are the same program as we used to be, and are simply beating a mediocre Iowa State team and not accomplishing anything else. We are now beating Iowa and Iowa State and then also having success in the MVC and in the NCAA's.
