Sorry to keep everyone in suspense for so long, but I decided to stay in for lunch and have a sandwich.

Incredible. You had all of CF wondering what sort of artery-clogging lunch you were going to have, and you went for something that could almost be somewhat healthy.

BCS basketball teams is a concept widely used by most all sports writers, analysts and fans.

Is that hard to get through YOUR head

To be honest...I've never read an article that talks about BCS basketball. I've read about majors and mid-majors...but never BCS basketball teams. What would you consider Gonzaga? How about Butler? Here's one: Marquette. Just one of many major teams in a BCS Football conference, but without a football team. I understand you are saying that there are big conferences and there are smaller conferences. I understand that in football, these are called BCS and non-BCS. But in basketball, there is no BCS. Many of these schools aren't even FBS teams in football.

UNI has had a great run the past seven years. There is no disputing that. The best thing that has happened for them is that Iowa State and Iowa have been very bad for most of that timeframe.

I was home when they played KU, and I have never seen as many Panther shirts in the area as I did that week.

The problem will be for them is what happens if Iowa gets it together. Iowa State is separate entity as most UNI fans root for the hawks. If Iowa gets good in the next three years (which will be very tough), and their fans get back on that bandwagon, where does UNI go for fans. They were consistently drawing 4000 people until the end of last year.

I like UNI. I was extremely happy for them this season. Ben Jacobson is a very nice person, and I was happy to see him stay. They are recruiting better than they ever have, and the recognition from the Sweet 16 hasn't even kicked in for them yet. They will continue to be formidable.

You're making this more difficult than it is...SEC, Big 12, Big 10, ACC, Big East, Pac 10. Those are BCS Conferences in football. Anyone who says a basketball team is in a BCS Conference is refering to a school in one of those conferences. There are more basketball teams in BCS conferences in football because the Big East has 16 basketball teams and only 8 football teams...Gonzaga is mid-major (Big West), Marquette is in the Big East so they are in a BCS Conference. (Sorry I had to spell it out for you)

I have enjoyed following the success story that is UNi basketball. It is great for the state and great for college basketball. However, I have no doubt that Hoiberg is going to quickly end this balance between & UNI, and designate UNI as a fodder team that we chew up every December.

Well, just because you want it to happen, and think it's going to happen, doesn't mean that it WILL happen that way. I, for one, would be very surprised to see ISU beat UNI in Cedar Falls next season.

As a dual ISU/UNI fan, I would love to see nothing more than the ISU-UNI basketball game be the preeminent showdown in the state during basketball season, and have both programs be contenders for their conference titles and be going to the postseason every season. And don't think it can't happen with both schools having that type of success. In 2004-05, ISU, UNI, and Iowa all made the NCAA tournament.
