my favorite part of this picture is not just the middle finger, but that the middle finger appears to have been thrown by an older woman in a leather jacket.

Johnny's wife, I think, judging by the sleeve and the woman sitting next to Coach Orr at the game on my TV.

While his commentary always seems kind of cartoonish, you can't deny Vitale does his homework in regard to the teams and players on the court. He had plenty if knowledge about several players and both teams.

1st picture is great, It looks like they even go Vitale to sign it.
2nd picture shows how much fun he was having and by the looks of the crowd they were enjoying it too.
3rd picture, just need to kick the last row out.

My god, 2 hours of great publicity and you tell him STFU.. Needless to say I don't agree with you.

And those two hours will drift over into comparisons he makes during the broadcast of other games all season.

Apparently there are a lot of ISU fans posting here who are not familiar with the decades long feud between **** Vitale and Johnny Orr (and by proxy, ESPN and Iowa State Basketball). I can certainly understand the sentiment that leads to the comment to dismiss **** Vital by saying "STFU". THANKFULLY on Sunday, Dickie V was on his best behavior and so was Johnny. ****'s enthusiasm for Basketball is as unquestionable as Johnny's enthusiasm for Iowa State. I am thankful that Dickie V struggled to keep his gloating over the Big 10 team at a nearly even keel with his fine props toward Iowa State. I am also thankful that the ESPN commentators had Melvin sit with them at the table at the end of the game. Like it or not, Dickie V liking something about your team and stating it on air, is like finding the keys to the kingdom. And having ISU beat one of Dickie's prized Big 10 teams in ****'s first visit to Hilton; Priceless.

I agree, the guy is very knowledgeable, does his research and is always complementary of players, coaches and Universities. His only 'Dooh' last night was when he said, "...they got a few other players there, it's not just Wiggins"... lol

All season long, fans of other teams will be complaining that he brings up Hilton Magic in a game that doesn't involve Iowa State. There is serious mileage yet to come from this visit.

Got chills when he was going crazy at the end "Hilton magic, its awesome baby with a capital A"

Its like striking oil, the initial joy, and then the realization its going to pay dividends long term.

Vitale is a phony. Enjoy the attention he brings to ISU for a game, but don't believe for a second that he's going to talk about any venue or team other than Cameron, Dean Dome, Coach K or Roy when he rambles on during his other broadcasts this year. Hilton may get a 1 second mention at the end of a blowout, but he tries hard not to deviate from the plan.

Bringing guys like Bilas or Fraschilla into your venue is a much bigger deal in my opinion.

Very simply put........there is absolutely not anything negative that can come out of Vitale's first visit to Hilton, or what he said about our players, our fans, our coach, the atmosphere......not anything.

You mad. He talked about Ames and Hilton Magic multiple times while broadcasting the Duke-Kansas game.
You can be bitter all you want, but reality says that he's already done the opposite of your prediction, and he'll keep talking about yesterday all season long.

IMO, the only guy to openly/passionately posses absolute love and affection for CBB more than **** Vitale was Jimmy V. Coach K is very, very close to these guys as well.

I get annoyed by him too but the man is NOT a phony. He has his favorites just like any human.

How dare Vitale & his partner make comments comparing our game against Michigan with the Champions Classic last Tuesday featuring Michigan State versus Kentucky and Kansas versus Duke! It was ******** and outrageous!!!

Seriously wonder how some people get out of bed everyday.
