Remember what happened to Arnaud from Chizik to his first year under Rhoads, it was still a spread offense, timing will take weeks to adjust to and well we play them the first part of October, plus the strength of our team will be the secondary.
If you're relying on your secondary to be your strength, you're in deep ****. The best secondaries in the country can't guard for 10 seconds, and until we find a pass rush, our secondary will continue to get picked apart.

Probable Wins: 5
Northern Illinois, Kansas St, UNI, Kansas, Colorado

Probable Losses: 3
Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma

Toss Ups: 4
Tech, Utah, Nebraska, Mizzou

I am convinced that we pull of at least one of those toss up games (ALL at home) to get to 6 wins and a bowl.

I think this post is spot on.
A flat out "toss-up" might be a stretch, but I fully agree that we will surprise at least one of those teams.

I honestly expect to throttle Kansas this year. I still have no clue how they win a conference game this fall with their big three gone and no real defense.

I'm wondering why everyone is conceding a loss to Iowa but Nebraska, TTech, and Utah are "toss ups"? Just curious, anyone care to explain their thoughts? Thanks

My Honest Guess:

Northern Illinois - W
@ Iowa - W (payback/"revenge" game - our "suprise victory on the road game" much like Neb. last year. A win in Iowa City carries our guys for weeks on end.)
Kansas State (@ Arrowhead) - W (payback/revenge game...for the heartbreaker in last season's FARMAGEDDON.)
UNI - W
Texas Tech - W
Utah - L (yes, I know...we are 5-0 at this point....my guess is that we would be ranked in this game and the MWC power comes to Ames with something to prove. We lose in a tough one in this situation.)
@ Oklahoma - L
@ Texas - L (A tough losing streak for ISU)
Kansas (Homecoming) - W (need a win to stop the losing streak. This is also a payback game for the heartbreaker last season too. These game dates HAVE TO BE CIRCLED by our team.)
Nebraska - L (this is their "payback game." Should be a good one, and hopefully the ref's are on our side.)
@ Colorado - W
Missouri - L

7-5 (4-4) finish with a similar bowl game like last season. (We need another suprising win...this year I am picking the Iowa game for that....should be a dangerous game for them.) I would hope for another W in the bowl game for an 8-5 finish. But, even with a bowl loss in this situation (7-6) I would see our fanbase and program finally getting the accolaides and attention it deserves after 2 successful seasons with a new coach.

Make no mistake....the K-State, Tech and KU games are HUGE. We need to play ball with these teams and come out the victor.

CPR would become an even bigger household name in the college football world...namely in the Midwest....helping our recruiting as well because of the recent success. Our program's expectations will grow even higher if we keep this thing over .500, and I believe that is a great thing for Cyclone Football.

I can only speak for myself, but because of the obvious. We play Iowa in their horse barn and we play the other 3 on sacred ground.

W -- N Illinois, if we cant beat directional U we should voluntarily move to the MWC
L -- Iowa, I don't see this one being close, we've been thier ***** lately, it continues.
L -- Kansas State, technically neutral but in reality a road game, we stink on the road
W -- UNI, it wont be by virtue of two blocked field goals but it wont be far off
W -- Texas Tech, nothing gets our boys going like family weekend... we still find a way
L -- Utah, they need a win vs a BCS team to make thier case for a BCS bowl. Hey, that sounds like us.
L -- Oklahoma, the sooners catch us looking ahead to Texas, thats worth an extra 14 points making the final score 56-9 Oklahoma
L -- Texas, they catch us looking ahead to the plane ride home and sqeak out a 35-3 vicory
W -- Kansas, at least we can beat them in football
L -- Nebraska, we only get 6 turnovers and loose by 10 points
W -- Colorado, we feed up on Bison burgers before the game and win by two scores
L -- Mizzou, we always seem to come through when a bowl game or a chance at the B12 North title is on the line... no wait, we don't.

I don't know how we get there but my bold prediction is that the final game against Missouri will decide who represents the Big 12 North in the championship game.

The Metro
Northern Ill: W - They will give us a little more trouble than some teams we have opened with in the past but should still be a win.

Iowa: L - Their defense has kept us out of the endzone for a long time. I think we break that trend this year but they will still be too much for us.

KSU: W - This will be another tough game but I think we can pull this one out in KC.

UNI: W - This isn't the same team that took Iowa to the edge last year. Should be an easy win.

Texas Tech: L - Tommy Tuberville is a great coach and TT has a lot of weapons returning. He will adjust his system to their style.

Utah: L - One of the best MWC teams over the last few years. They will be a favorite to take the conference again.

Okie: L - They will have a better team this year under a second year starting QB. Plus we haven't had much success in Norman.

Texas: L - They lose some from the NC game team but it's still Texas and it's still being played in Austin. Enough said.

Kansas: W - New coach and a bunch of new pieces. We get this one.

Nebby: L - They will have this one circled on the calendar. As much as i would love to leave them with a lasting impression of two losses to us before bolting, I don't see it happening and I'm afraid it could get ugly.

Colorado: W - Their coach is a putz and they are looking forward to going out west next year. We take this one.

Mizzou: L - They have our number lately. I don't see this year being any different.

5-7...it's how I viewed this season a few months ago and nothing has changed my mind since then. It sucks but oh well...

NIU - We win a close one by 7-10 points.

Iowa - I truly think Iowa blows us out. This is 'their' year to prove everyone wrong and I think their defense will be way too much for us. Especially in the 2nd game. I see Iowa as being the toughest game on our schedule. Nothing against OU and Texas, but i think Iowa is better.

KSU - I think we get them this year. Another W by under 7.

UNI - We should win this game by 17+. UNI is not as good this year.

Tex Tech - This game scares me. I think Tech's athletes will be too much. Tech by 10.

Utah - this game will be tough. I think we lose a close one.

Oklahoma - loss by 24 easily. I don't think we can physically compete w/ them.

Texas - I see us playing texas closer than OU, but still a 17 pt loss.

KU - we should win this one. I don't think KU is good this year.

Nebraska - I hope for a close one, but I see Nebraska winning by 14.

CU - I say a W. Even on the road we struggle there, but I have a good feeling.

Mizzou- they have had our number, but i think we get them.

I see the Missouri game as our shot for out 6th season win then a bowl game.

Guys, hold your predictions.

They are talking about this thread on hawkeyenation and we should not be expecting anything over 2 wins. Who were we to predict a conference win, shame on us!

And for future reference, do not mention ISU and the great University of Iowa in the same sentence, we are not worthy.

Why on earth do you or anyone else care about what someone else thinks on some other message board. I suggest you get a hobby.

I think the reason is that the last Cyclone team to win in Boulder was the same team that beat Pitt in the Insight bowl. Remember that team? Yeah, that was a long time ago.
Its tough to play up in the mountains with that altitude.
That said, I believe this is the year that we break our losing streak in Boulder.
