I think the secret here is just to admit to yourself that this show just is not ever going to be great. I mean, it's good. I enjoy it, but it's never going to be great. It's never going to be Breaking Bad or Sopranos. That first season you kind of thought it could get to that level but....It's just going to be something you want to watch on Sunday nights. I've come to terms with it.

Well yeah. Those are two of the best, if not the two best, shows of all time. Those are anamolies and Sopranos had the advantage of being on HBO also (big budget, great production values, no censorship, and no fear of taking risks). And Breaking Bad was just amazing.

I think the show has actually taken a step towards being that type of quality drama this season. This and the last season have been my favorites.

I enjoyed these two. Looks like I might be in a small number here.

Agree. I've loved em. And now, when the two camps confront each other, we will actualy know some of the people with the governor and even care about some of them, which should add to the drama.

I just don't get how all these "camps" out in the woods near the prison seem happy go lucky, yet, the prison is getting surrounded by hoards.

I guess for me, I didn't need 2 episodes of backstory and spoonfeeding character development on the gov. One or two scenes with him and the young girl and his "new" friends, would have been enough to know. That is what was so great about Breaking Bad, they didn't ever spoon feed us stuff, everything had a purpose.

The other thing that has bugged me about this show, is how "slow" it has always felt. I think sometimes that is intentional, to play up how hard the mundane things are for these people now compared to in the past, but sometimes it always seems to me that many story lines take one or two too many episodes to wrap up, the farm, the flu, woodbury, etc.

Good question. I'd like to know how it was done. Like they said on Talking Dead, it seemed like the governor and those guys had just left that camp, hunted a little and then went back to the camp and everyone was dead. Maybe they hunted for hours in which case it'd make more sense but maybe someone went stealth mode. And what made the governor go back to the camp to discover all of the bodies?

Good questions... I thought the Governor was going back to the camp to take them out and steal their stuff.

The Gov had been keeping an eye on them.

Sorry.

Something I noticed from next weeks preview that was shown on Talking Dead:

When the Gov is addressing his new camp about the people in the prison, he says somthing like "they're going to notice their people are missing and come looking for them". So a few must get popped outside the fence.

I was confused about that whole deal. Did that camp get attacked on the same outing that the group initially saw it? Or was it a later outing? And how did the Governor know? It's like he has superman hearing or psychic senses.

it appears it happened shortly after they stopped by ... and the wounds looked to be from blades/knives.

he has sense for danger (finding the walker tied up, getting his 'family' out of there, etc), I think that trait is being played up to create a legit adversary for the prison group. and adding that he how has 50 tons of steel for a vehicle (he kept the driver alive)

This episode will pay off in dividends over the remainder of the season as we finished this episode where we started last weeks.. him peaking in on the prison. This creates the gov'ners character as new and dangerous threat.

Certainly it wasn't a party from the prison, right? but something else out there ... and who are they more of a threat too?

I dont think that camp getting ransacked needed to be explained. There were several points in the show set up to be examples of the Governor's reasoning/rationalizing for doing things. Symbolic only.

I'm not so sure.. they didn't show the Governor alone in the woods. They kept the three of them together... and the Governor was scared enough to pack up, leave and when he returned, fortify the camp.

EDIT: Also the raided camp had guns.. no way one person could take down that camp without shots fired.

I agree with this post 100%, especially the first two paragraphs. I would like it, but my like button is broken.

And how did the one walker that comes across the Woodbury Phase Two Mobile Park get through these newly fortified defenses, which we are aware has people constantly on patrol?

Last night's episode was OK. I was bored on the week prior. Should move along well now.

I would enjoy backstory short episodes about other survivor groups and what they were doing differently, what worked, what didn't work, etcetera. Especially if there were some people working on a cure or something.

As an engineer, if I had survived, I would have tried to harness walkers to spin a windmill-type device to generate electricity. Seems like they have endless energy - might as well use it. Especially if you could cut off their arms and jaws like Michonne's slaves.

I think the last two episodes have succeeded in making the governor an interesting and dangerous adversary once again. He was getting ridiculous by the end of Season 3 after being a really interesting character for much of the season.

Only thing that left my scratching my head after last night was when the Governer and his new family attempted to leave the camp in the middle of the night and they come across a creek bed filled with zombies stuck in the mud. What did that have to do with their ability to leave the camp? The music that played was "dread" type music like it was this huge ordeal.

Anyone else think that was a weird scene?

My first thought was maybe all those walkers were the people of Woodbury he killed in cold blood.
