About to stop snowing in DSM (west side). Had about 1.5 inches this morning on the ground and can't believe we've gotten much more than another 3 or so.

i saw on the news they have CR getting 15 inches tonight, 21 in Davenport. what a mess.

I have a cat that lives outside, but currently is riding the storm out in the garage. I had to dig through a 17 inch drift just to get to the garage door. While I was clearing a deer path, I saw a flash and then Boom! My first thought was a transformer blew up, which is common in my town. Then it began to rain ice for about 10 minutes, with massive wind gusts. The thunder & lightning grew intense for a short period. I think I'm at the peak of the storm, and we are getting slammed. This blizzard went from Winter Wonderland to Class 3 Kill Storm in a matter of minutes. And I've been drinking Rye.

West Liberty. Winds have been sustained at 30 with 45-50mph gusts for about an hour. Then I got hit with a thunderstorm.

This day has been just brutal. My wife is stuck in IC for the night, and she didn't hide the booze. After the beast moves out around midnight, I 'll go drift busting with my shovel and a bottle.
