So is Iowa basically at its peak right now since they don't play anyone else the rest of the year? I guess a win in the B1G Championship game would move them up quite a bit.

But if Bama, Clemson, OU and ND win out, does Iowa go even if they some how win Big 10 title game?

I don't even see how they can make a case to be ahead of Florida, Stanford, Utah, and Memphis.

Anyone that did not think Ohio State would be top 4 or Bama would be over-rated is a flat out fool. The CFP is a poll. Jersey names gon' play.

Like I said, Iowa doesn't even control their own destiny at this point. They need help even if they do go undefeated.

Iowa isn't going undefeated, but if they did, there's a 0% chance they get left out. They absolutely control their own destiny at this point.

You honestly believe a 13-0 team who's last win was against a previously 12-0 defending national champion would get left out? Good lord.

There can ONLY be a maximum of four P5 undefeated conference champions at this point. None of them would get left out.

If by some miracle Iowa finishes 13-0 including a win against #1 Ohio State, it doesn't matter who's in front of them, they'd be in the top 4 for sure. And they'd deserve it.

TCU hasn't had a big test yet. Even Iowa has a higher SOS at this point in the season than TCU. TCU hasn't played anyone in the top 30 yet. I think they finish with 2 losses this year. (@OSU and @OU)

Agree, but I don't BAMA should be in over undefeated teams, period. I just hope LSU wins this weekend, we know the SEC will have someone, so I just hope it isn't two teams. :)

Anyone from a power conference who goes undefeated should be in, period.

I agree that 13-0 Iowa with a win over 12-0 Ohio State is likely in... but Iowa doesn't control whether or not OSU goes 12-0. OSU could lose to one or both of MSU and UM. Even if MSU beats OSU, they could lose to PSU. Then the resume builder in Indianapolis loses its luster and 13-0 Iowa could be left out if the other teams go certain ways

You can say only 4 may be undefeated all you want... The fact is there are two 2 loss teams ahead of Iowa right now and they both have better resume-building opportunities remaining on their schedule. In the scenario I described, Iowa is out even at 13-0 behind, for example, 13-0 Clemson, 13-0 or 12-1 LSU/Alabama, 12-0 Baylor, and 11-1 Notre Dame.

We need to realize a lot of this is factoring SOS up till now, depending on who keeps winning in the B12, that will push them to the top, and Iowa goes on to play, Indiana, Minnesota, and NU, non of which help their cause.....

It really depends on how the other teams play out the rest of the year. If Ohio State loses and NW continues to lose, its possible a 13-0 Iowa team could get left out. I don't think that will happen but its possible. The committee is already showing they aren't scared to put 1 loss teams ahead of undefeated based on SOS. Would a one loss TCU or Baylor get in over an undefeated Iowa? Let's assume TCU goes loses only to OU. They would have wins against Baylor and OSU and their only loss would be to a Top 10 team. Is that record enough to be ahead of an undefeated with a weak schedule? Right now, the committee says yes...look at ND and Bama.

Florida has a better resume than Alabama right now. Florida #10, Bama #4. Enough said.

My biggest gripe here is that it just seems completely inconsistent as to what they are ranking teams on.

I think we need to go back to a computer formula with human inputs (like the BCS was) instead of just a group in a room. The biggest biases with human-only decisions will be to give the bluebloods advantages over other schools. It worked to OSU's advantage last year and it is working to Bama's advantage this year.

This was so obvious from the start. There was nothing wrong with the BCS ranking formula.

If there has to be a committee of subjective nonsense, let each conference send exactly one representative of their choice to the committee. At least that subjective nonsense committee would be very unlikely to have some sort of agenda, unlike the one now where we get 1 unknown gomer from Texas Tech and other conference get 2-3 football legends dominating the thing.

Exactly. I get why TCU didn't make the playoff last year but to drop them from 3 to 6 after a 50 pt win was beyond stupid.

How about dropping them from clear #2 to end last year to #8 this year without losing a game?

If you say "prove it" Ohio State and TCU are the top teams right now...yet TCU is barely in the top 10.

I don't think last year should matter at all in this year's polls. I was not a fan of the lazy line of thinking by many AP voters to keep Ohio State at 1 this year until they lose, regardless of how bad they looked for a while.

Agreed, neither TCU or Ohio St has anything impressive on their resume yet for this year and both have looked underwhelming at times. I wouldn't have either in the top four at this time.
