Yay to every moral victory we can come up with here! The bottom line is we stunk it up early and it took 50 minutes to get it together. That’s unacceptable. It’s happened multiple times.

As one old fogie to another....how the hell do you think a program gets to the point of playing Clemson, Oregon, and Notre Dame in bowl games if their only accomplishment is "not giving up"? This program IS winning and improving if you look at the bigger picture. ISU belonged on the field with Clemson, despite coming up short. Let that sink in before you claim last night was simply a loss.

No player on the team or that is recruited by Iowa State cares that the team was awful 10 years ago, much less 40. Cyclone fans need to give up the loveable loser persona. If anything, the last five-ten years of Cyclone sports should show that anything is possible.

Of course Iowa State is better than they have before. I believe it would be hard not to. We have been so horrible for do long we think 7-6 is a great season.

My point is that in order to get to the next level we can't have a 9-3 season with nineteen starters returning and finish 7-6. It impacts the whole program in terms of recruiting and overall impression.

The next level means actually winning a Big 12 Championship once every 20 years. Maybe I am asking too much but I believe all Iowa State fans should at least include this in our expectations.

They used to give up and get boat raced regularly. Sure, they didn't actually leave the stadium, but teams of the past don't fight back to have a shot to win on the last possession after going down 17 on horrible circumstances unless they're driven by habits and winning routine.

We've hit a plateau and need to regroup and reassess how to rise to that next level if we're going to reach it.

If you can't see the difference in the 5-6 losses under this regime vs past at least look at pt differential in losses. They're making gains.

It's been the majority of our losses the past three years. Frustrating outcomes? Sure. But you have to fight to be in a position to win games. This squad has built that expectation.

Now can they clean up mistakes to not get down and learn to play with a target on their backs? Remains to be seen and continues to be the test before this unit.

"They didn't build Rome in a day". JFC with all you chicken little, whoa is me, I gave 10% of my heart to this team so they should so everything they can to make me happy BS. It blows my mind that people still set such unrealistic expectations. This team is not very different from last years team. How many games did we find ourselves in a deficit only to have to rally back and end up winning by 1 score? I know we had 4 games that we won within 1 score. This year we lost 5. All by 1 score. These are the margins the coaching staff talks about.

When it comes to building a dynasty, you are just not going to bring in 20 stud recruits every single year and win year one. You have to start someone. You start small. You START by building a culture. Culture is sustainable. Culture builds that "can-do" "fight till the end" attitude. Once you have that culture and most importantly the confidence that it brings, you start winning games. (We are around this point) When you start winning games then you start bringing in better recruits. Those better recruits develop over a few years and help you start winning even more games. Which brings in even better recruits and so on.

ISU does not have 100 years of legacy with a $100M dollar AD budget to fall back on and help us buy instant success. This is something that has to be built. I'm sorry to break it to you but it can't be built in a day. Think about this, this senior class, the ones that we praise and the ones that have literally given us some of the most exciting and successful football we have ever seen at ISU, were an underappreciated and underrecruited class. The last 5 years, CMC has successfully recruited higher and higher talent. "We'll never be able to replace Lazard/Montgomery/Isheem/etc" but then kids like Buttler/Hall/Freyler show up and show out. That's why we see kids that we love move on as they get pushed out of starting roles by the young talent.

I'm not a confrontational person at all but you have to be pretty ignorant and narcissistic to think that these kids don't deserve our support. How do you think THEY feel? Are your feelings more important than theirs? Sure, I'm disappointed that we didn't make it to the CFP like we all hoped and dreamed we would but to doubt what this team has done for us and the sacrifices they have made...well that's just ******. If I understand you correctly we should never critize players or coaches. We both want the same thing- a programs that wins. I just disagree with where we stand. I know you don't build Rome in a day.This is not Campbell's second year or even third year. He just finished his sixth year! 7-6 after six years is not moving ahead. In my opinion we are not moving forward and foresee some bad years to come.

I wasn't all that impressed with Brock, I'd be a little surprised if he finished next season with the most carries. The other returning rbs look more explosive.

He doesn't seem to miss many tackles when running the ball but he is terrific in the passing game.

I thought Sean Shaw looked pretty good. He looked really aggressive going to get the ball. The length and hands have been there but I feel like he's tended to be too passive waiting for the pass to get to him. If he plays like this, he'll be good next year. I think he's coming back.
