What's the next step for ISU?

What Campbell has achieved since arriving at ISU is nothing short of miraculous. After watching ISU FB for 40+ years, it finally feels like we have something in place that can be maintained so long as we can keep staff continuity and they don't get complacent with their goals.

My question is, what is the next "hump" that ISU FB and this staff can leap over? Obvious near term answer is winning the "recognized" B12 championship in a couple weeks, but after that, I think it's imperative we get to the point where we can consistently beat P5 schools from the other conferences. To date, Campbell is 0-6 in attempts (WSU, ND, 4 losses to Iowa). Would be great to right that ship this year in our bowl game wherever we land.

Thoughts?
Be in the Big 12 title hunt in November for 10 years straight. Then ask your question again.

I think sustaining success is as much of a hurdle as the first time success is achieved. As a fan, continuing to play at a high level of 9 or more wins consistently will be more than enough. Have to continue to recruit well and retain assistant coaches.
Winning the Big 12 championship every year is not realistic. Being competitive at a high level is. 7-9 wins most years with 11 wins once every 4 years

This isn't a troll post, but the real trolls will do their best to act like it is.

0-6 against P5 competition isn't a good look for us or the conference. Gotta get that figured out and if we can do it this year against a Florida or A&M or USC even better.

No **** braniac. But if ISU had beat all of its P5 opponents this year and lost to Louisiana, they wouldn't be in any different spot. Maybe a place or two higher in the CFP poll but not in the playoffs.

What does the P5 have to do with it?

And stop using 'us' and 'we', it makes me vomit.

It's a great achievement of course and I'd take it in a heartbeat. Any NY6 win is an accomplishment, but if the B12 wants to quiet its critics, its top teams need to win on the regular against other P5 competition (any P5 will do).
LOL. Texas beat the **** out of Georgia less than 2 years ago in SEC country and held their own last year against arguably the greatest team ever.

Did you hear more from the media about how good Texas looked in those games or how they want to **** can their coach now? I'll go with the second option.

Maybe we should do it like the B1G and stay incestuous playing only B1G teams so that no one sees how weak the conference is?

The next step is the same as the last one. ISU needs to be the best team that they can be. Campbell has always approached this team in that manner. If you are a good team, and you are prepared, you will most likely win. It would be nice to beat the Sooners again, but it is on the Cyclones to be the better team on the 19th.

So for the contrarians, it's not important we win against the ACC, SEC, B10, and PAC12? Dumb even some seem to think. I sure hope MC and JP feel differently than some in this thread.

Let's narrow the gap between us and OU...beating them twice in the same season will get national attention and force CFP officials to re-think the standings. We can worry about other conferences when we go bowling.

Remember, one game at a time.

Give the hok fans 9 months to worry about next year's game with ISU at historic Jack Trice Stadium against a historic Cyclone team.

Hey troll, why don’t you go back east and talk about about EIU’s next step. That would be beating a team with a winning record.

Seriously, what are Iowa's next steps?

1) Sweep racist culture and leadership under the carpet
2) Usurp attention that ISU is getting that they never even got when they had an undefeated 12-2 season
3) Make sure they don't play Ohio State next year (or any year)

JP right now is probably working phones to secure tickets during a pandemic because he knows how amazing this fan base is.

Sustainable success
Staying power

Dream seasons are fun. But sustainable success is the dream.

Look at baylor and minnesota a year ago vs now
Also fair. I'd take sustainable conference success as top of the list every year. Far and away a #1 goal. Beyond that is what I'm looking at. Would like to see us get off the non B12 P5 0-fer trend sooner than later. Pinning my hopes on the bowl game as mentioned.
