Just think how ****** Tom Brady's QB coach at Michigan was the guy barely played in college.
Part of it comes from the mistake some people have comparing our best QB ever to some of the great QBs across the country at the time. Just a few random examples for the same span would have been Fields, Lawrence, Burrow, Young, etc – all incredibly good and flashy in college. If you want to compare Purdy to any of them at their peak, you’re always going to come away disappointed. Part of that is because he wasn’t flashy and part because he also had fewer elite talent around him. If instead you look at what he did for his given ISU teams in context, you’re much more satisfied.Maybe he was more competent than some people give him credit for before he left ISU. Winningest QB, tons of records, helped this team punch above its weight. Some tend to focus on just the negatives.

LOL. Yeah, there's zero room between "Maybe some changes and outside perspective would help" and "Fire Campbell."
Also, if anyone thinks this would be any different at another school, with the 4th worst offense in the P5, you're kidding yourself. That's what the money is for. Sure, draw a line at personal attacks or personally contacting the coaches to *****, but if ******** on a message board is a huge problem after 6 years of pretty much 100% slurp, then dude's in the wrong profession.
Do you have an explanation as to why we see the same issues of special teams disasters, poor OLine play, mental mistakes, and the offense struggling to score agaisnt equal or better competition then? Or do you think everything is perfectly fine?NO NO NO NO NO
Someone has to be blamed, someone has to be fired, something has to be wrong inside the program.
Some deductive reasoning makes me think that he's being told the opposite of what you're saying tbhSomeone needs to tell Dekkers he can run the ball when the receivers aren't open and the pocket is collapsing.
The chart says the QB should only run on QB designed run plays. Some deductive reasoning makes me think that he's being told the opposite of what you're saying tbh
Manning has been very open, at least behind the scenes but I think publicly too, with the fact that he doesn’t like QB’s scrambling. It was well known that Purdy was instructed to throw the ball away when protection or the play breaks down. Not saying if that was right or wrong, but it has always been his preference and likely always will be.Some deductive reasoning makes me think that he's being told the opposite of what you're saying tbh

I see you dumbing posts and whining about other people all the time but I haven't seen you weigh in on anything execpt your opinions on other peoples opinions. Aren't you a former player? If so you should have some insight on stuff we're all missing that could be helpful here instead of just firing your bullets of rage at people.
The coach at K-State is in his third year...and kicking @ss.
The coach at KU is in is second year...and kicking @ass.
The coach at TCU is in his first year...and kicking @ass.
We have quality players and solid coaches. What gives?
We've been kicking ass for the last 5 years. It's like you guys just forget what has happened.
I would bet my salary that all 3 of those coaches will have down years. Hell the dip **** at Kansas State has already had down years.
You're stretching on kicking ass here. Relative to our historical badness, we've done well. Good chance at least one of those three exceeds Campbell's best year this season.
Tom Manning, Tom Manning, Tom Manning!! If he could not find a way to win decisively with the team we had last year, it is going to be all downhill from this point forward!! Can you imagine what Andy Reid could have done with our 2021 team?I can't help but think that Joel Gordon becoming the QB coach and passing game coordinator has stunted our QB growth.
Timeline:
2008-2010: Gordon was the offensive coordinator at Emory & Henry a Division 3 school in Virginia. He worked along side Tom Manning was was an offensive line coach at the school in 2008.
2011-2015: Spent 5 seasons at his alma mater Shepherd (W.V>) University as Quarterbacks and Receivers coach.
2016-2017: Asked by Matt Campbell to assist as an Offensive Analyst
2018: Quarterbacks Coach
2019: Passing Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach.
Most of his listed accomplishments include Brock Purdy breaking all of the school records at ISU. But doesn't anyone else think that Purdy actually got worse or stagnant under his tutelage?
Purdy leaves ISU and gets an independent quarterbacks coach, all of a sudden he looks like an NFL quarterback.
We don't seem to have any development with our quarterbacks and they seem to become stagnant or get worse over their time here.
Discuss.

You need to be smarter than this. We all need to be smarter than this.
From 2017 through 2021, we had the second most conference wins of any team in the conference. If any other team or any other coach had this record, you'd easily concede they'd been kicking ass for 5 years. It wouldn't even be a question. So why won't we give credit to our team and our coach for doing that?
Do you know why we had the second most conference wins? Because every team in the conference had a year that they were not as good. We had 29 wins and the next was Oklahoma State with 28. They had one year where they finished 3-6 in the conference. We were incredibly consistent. No other team was that consistent.
EVERY TEAM HAS DOWN YEARS. EVERY COACH HAS DOWN YEARS. Gundy had a bad year. Texas has bad years. They all have ******* bad years.
So, yes, we kicked ass for 5 years in this conference. It was good by our history. But it was also good for any team.
And why are we so certain that we will never win another game? The next time a Campbell team doesn't bounce back at some point will be the first time. Maybe this is the year where they completely fall apart. But it hasn't happened yet, so I'm not going to concede that it will.
I don't think you could find a comparable talent combination in ISU history with a QB and RB on the same team as Purdy and Hall/Montgomery. The only thing that comes to mind is if Wallace and Davis played on the same team.Part of it comes from the mistake some people have comparing our best QB ever to some of the great QBs across the country at the time. Just a few random examples for the same span would have been Fields, Lawrence, Burrow, Young, etc – all incredibly good and flashy in college. I think people underappreciated Purdy, Montgomery, Hall, Kohler, Allen, Shoener, etc. It was a perfect storm of talent and some of the best we’ve ever had at the respective positions. But, it’s also why I think people question (right or wrong) Manning. Was Manning really that good of an OC or did he just happen to have the best talent we’ve ever had to work with? Did he maximize their talent or hinder their true abilities? Really, only time can say definitively. I think this year is the first good glimpse into what Manning can do with different skillsets, and we're early to see what adjustments he can make to adapt.
Consistent and kicked ass aren't exactly the same. Smart folks know that.
Give credit to the coaches for doing better than we've usually done. It wasn't an earth-shaking level of success. It shouldn't hurt to acknowledge that.
Read an article that the 49ers changed his footwork so he throws off his front foot. He was throwing a lot off his back foot at Iowa State. Don't know why we never addressed that. Why did he magically become better after he left ISU then? That's what I'd like to know. Because if only 3 months with an actually competent qb coach did that, you have to wonder.
So you don't think we've been the 2nd best team in the conference for 5 years? Who else has been better (obviously beside Oklahoma)? And frankly, 2nd best is kicking ass.
And I was responding to some idiot that claimed the Kansas State coach was kicking ass, the TCU coach was kicking ass, and the Kansas coach was kicking ass. My point was you can't claim those teams are kicking ass without acknowledging what we've done and what they haven't.
