When to cheer for the Hawkeyes?

I admit that I'm a bit torn. I want to hate the Hawkeyes at all costs, but is there a point when I should actually cheer for them? For instance, the Huskers will be insufferable if they win. And who wouldn't like to see the Buckeyes crushed? Or take down a top SEC team?

At some point, as much as I hate to admit it, I think it is good for the whole state for the Hawkeyes to do well (and worse for the state if they have a high profile choke like us in BB last year). I'm just not sure what that point is. I don't think I can cheer for them unless they do make it to the playoff. At that point, a win is good for the state, even if it makes Hawk fans even more insufferable. But who can handle them being even more insufferable? I may give myself a ban for even considering it.

Is is there a point when any of you will cheer for the Hawkeyes?

NEVER!

I used to think that they were the only team I would root for KU basketball to beat. I would still root for KU basketball to beat them, but now KU will be playing Michigan State and I have a dilemma. That ripoff at Auburn Hills is right up there with the hose job in Hilton and the ramifications were far worse.

If the hoks lose to Nebby, I will root for them all day long in the championship game. That would screw the Big10 out of a lot of money...

Not really because whoever Iowa would beat in the championship game will still make a New Year's Six Bowl along with Iowa in the Rose. The New Year Six bowls pay the same amount as the playoff semi-final bowls. The only lost money would be not having a chance at the additional money that is paid out for the playoff championship game.

Does ISIS have a football team and do they play Iowa?

I wouldn't cheer for them directly but I can give them credit when it's due. I don't live in a place where I'm going to be surrounded by/see comments from belligerent hawkeye fans so that helps.

When I was younger, I spent way too much time and energy arguing about/hating Iowa, and I realized that's a really stupid approach, and when I see ISU fans going out of their way to make it happen, it only fuels their fans and the 'super bowl/only care about one game' narrative.

No, what fuels their super bowl comments is complete arrogance (unjustified arrogance for the last 20 years).

AND if you think hawk fans are any different about wanting isu to win then you have your head buried in the sand.

I have two former teammates on facebook who are hawk fans and they are the only ones who contantly bash isu and post stuff about isu. I just ignore it but it's obvious typical hawk fan described by many here.

I have many Iowa state fans as friends and not one does anything similar.

Sorry, you are just wrong.

I've been having a similar internal debate. I don't normally cheer for Iowa, but don't mind seeing them do well, either. However, I grew up in the western part of the state, with some family that lives in Nebraska that were/are Husker fans. That, combined with lingering bitterness of Nebraska blowing up the Big 12, I normally half-heartedly root for Iowa when they play the Huskers (lesser of two evils). This year, not sure if I can root for Iowa to stay undefeated and potentially prevent a Big 12 team from getting into the playoff... and pretty confident I can't cheer for Nebraska without throwing up in my mouth.

Maybe I'll just root for an asteroid to strike Memorial Stadium on November 27 instead. That would be a win all around, right?

Probably the most crass vulgar person I have ever personally known is a Hawkeye fan (no surprise there). He is also one of those that claim they root for the Cyclones when they aren't playing Iowa in that condescending way. But if you actually look at what he posts on socially media, he was celebrating the death of Jackson Vroman, hoping for a tornado to wipe out JTS this week, etc.

**** them all.

Rose-Michigan
Peach-Ohio State
Capital One-Iowa

It's happening.

I cheer for them to lose that's about it. I'm hoping they lose to Nebby and get slaughtered in the Big Ten championship.

Would you rather spend two hours of your life rooting for the Hawkeyes? Oooooooor, would you rather be dragged naked over a cactus with your mouth over the tail-pipe of a Greyhound bus? Oooooooor, would you rather sandpaper the [backside] of an alligator in a phone booth?â€￾ After a brief pause, “What was that second one again?

**** the University of Iowa. **** every single bit of it other than the Carver School of Medicine. **** their team, **** their ***-holes fans and **** the media in Iowa. And if I have to: **** "good for the state" since I live in Minnesota. You think those ****in' hawks will be cheering for us to go to the Final Four?????????

Oh, and last but not least, **** the Gophers for not beating them.

Go Huskers!

UMMMM yes the amount of IOWA fans rooting for the clones to the final four would be much greater than half if u guys make a deep run. ESPECIALLY if your playing the likes of Kentucky (well any SEC school), duke, 'Cuse, Louisville, Kansas, etc.....

I know you want to believe all hawkeye fans have the same mentality as you, well they dont. I would much much rather see an iowa born kid get to the big stage and have a big game on a home grown team than some ghetto b@$+urd from south or east coast. Past the iowa-iowa st game I would rather iowa st do well in the tourny then flop.

Seems racist.

And you're wrong. UAB beating ISU was one of the single greatest days that Hawkeyes fans had in 2015.

I guess I shoulda included trailer trash, honkey, and whatever other acronym we can find but generally just talking about the " not a role model" type of individuals. That Marshall Henderson from ole miss a few yrs back is good example of what Im talking about. Id rather see hard working, level headed kids like Niang do better then Hernderson. But I guess if you guys want to disagree then thats OK its your opinion.
